  1. In other words. Zolpiden Sleeping tablets. Taken five years; Seroxat for depression five years. For the last four months I have been 'shaving' a little off my tablets every night, and for the last week have taken neither. Now I understandwhat cold turkey means. I think the vivid dreams are one of the worse problems for me. Each afternoon I have to go into my bedroom and de- dream it  by having nice thoughts about the room. Putting flowers and things I like around; spraying lavender around. If I didn't my bedroom would just become a hell hole, where I experience most distressing dreams. The other big problem is what I call shock shivers  in my head. Like electric shocks every few minutes. I have had a bad time since I came to France. It has been my decision to come of these awful tablets. They did their job. Saw me through some horrid experiences. Now I want to learn to live again, and be me. I live my life using biodiversity and permaculture awareness, but have been poisioning myself on grotty tablets. For years people have been politely telling me I am a little bit different, whatever that means. So what, are we all not individuals. I've just turned 60,I am happy, batty and quite beautiful in my own way. Even living on my own is a good experience. I would like to say thank you for this forum. I've had some laughs from it. I often think that I probably pass by a forum member and just don't know. Do you ever imagine what a member looks like. For instance what picture do you get from Mooky. Would love to know.
  2. I have talked to them as well as I can. We find it difficult to communicate as they speak the local dialect.I know it is what these people do every weekend. They come next door because it is only the one man who lives there. Quite honestly they put upon him. Their wives come around with the kids for a few hours then leave their blokes drinking overnight. I live alone, and have a pleasant disposition and they know this. We have always been friendly. he asked me around once to a party. I was offered vast quantities of whiskey. I don't drink I had never been so bored in my life. He has only a small room but the biggest amplification system , with flashing lights. He is very proud of it. Matters are made worse as after being on Seroxat and Zolphidem for five years I have finally finished taking them. I am suffering very bad cold turkey symptons. I suppose before I didn't hear the noise so much at nights because of the sleeping tablet. Apart from talk to them I haven't done anything yet. My other neighbours are getting angry too. I thought they might talk to them. They just go to his gate and tell him to ' turn the music down, you w****r. They just turn it up. I will have a chat with the Mairie on wednesday, when we have a village meeting. In all my years as a social worker/and priest I have never seen such cannabis abuse as I have in some of the rural communities around here.
  3. Another weekend of hell it seems. I live in a detached house with double glazing. I have just got up after another night a very loud throbbing music. It starts friday evening and goes on until sunday night. Sometimes there maybe a break of a couple of hours, while the 52year old man and his friends lie comatosed on the lawn. A weekend to me now means. Noise, very very loud. The odour of cannabis wafting everywhere. Men urinating all the time; why can't they do this less publicly. They even have the cheek to try to send their kids around to me 'to play on my computor'. So I lock my gate. I can't stand this all the time. What can I do?  Why should I have to go in my garden or lie in bed with ear plugs in . Why should I have to put up with the smell of cannabis. Believe you me watching a drunk, drugged older men all weekend is no fun. I am a party pooper. I am a boring old fart. I do respect others wishes. I have immaculate manners, and respect for my neighbours. Why do they have non for me. I am ranting.... tiredness creeping in.......................................

  7. I am just about to start on my chicken adventure. I would like to know more about Bantams. I don't have a lot of space, and live alone so I don't want lots of eggs. I also want them to be good pets. Any suggestions for a good breed that might suit. Thanks

    climbing rose

    I bought my climbing hydrangea today. What sort of soil is best for it. Could I just transfer it to a bigger pot for a year to see if it likes the position I want to put it in. it looks very healthy;
  11. I think this is a difficult question as every department is so different. I took a friend to Niort yesterday to obtain a french licence. He is 70 next week. He had to take; 2 photographs passport, photocopy of picture page 2 utility bills ; He filled in a simple form there. Gave his two parts of  uk licence back; Also an SAE; Paid 25 Euros. It took 15 mins, and licence will be sent to him in a few days. His forcoming birthday wasn't mentioned.
  12. Your neighbour might be questioning why you are burning things that could be composted, or recycled in other ways. Most garden waste can be composted.

    Thank you all so very much. M
  14. I have just seen my first swallow, ten days earlier than last year; Chef Boutonne 79. A minute later and two. The feeling seeing them is difficult to describe, orgasmic I suppose, and a little tear in my eye.
  15. Can anyone suggest a climbing rose that would do well on a north facing wall.
  16. I won't use anything on my plants that isn't completley natural. I was advised to steep dried horsetail plants in water for a day or to then spray three times. Maybe just luck but so far no peach leaf curl over four years.
  17. I don't know if they are still there, but in dept 79 Tillou:Sompt there were families living in tepees.
  18. Thank you Tressy Photobucket don't give me 3/4 options. I think I may have succesfully loaded a photo (albeit the wrong way round) on antiques craft section. The owl has caused me a few problems. I got it from Emmaus for 5 euro. I sent my brother a copy of the photo. He placed the pic in a national mag he has dealings with, and he felt a bit silly when I sent a picture to the mag too [IMG]http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n140/Mooky_011/hemmyshome001.jpg[/IMG]  Now I feel silly because I have just realised I haven't put the correct 'too' on the caption. Chris I am going to look at Snakes Head again tomorrow. So I will tell you how many there are. photo link edited by a mod
  19. [IMG]http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n140/Mooky_011/hemmyshome078.jpg[/IMG] I was given this as a birthday present today. I want to clean it up and paint it. Anyone any idea for a paint that would be near the same colour.

  21. Hi Chris They are by the River Boutonne; Nr Chef Boutonne, 79 just past the mill on the way to St. Martin D'Entraigues. There is evidence of more plants than the eight in several positions along there. Also by the Boutonne path from St Martin to Fontenille in a marshy bit of land. Can I help at all take photos or give better details of how to find them.

  23. [IMG]http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n140/Mooky_011/newpictures061.jpg[/IMG]I have tried and tried the photo thing. I will keep trying until it works. It wasn't actually a piccy of the toads. I will take some this evening. May I share some wonderful moments with you all. I came to France on my own five years ago; and just don't seem to have made many friends. So I spend all day/night on my own. I think my children are getting fed up with me emailing to say I've seen this and that so please indulge me a little. Today I have seen A beautiful toad actually ejecting her long slithery cord of eggs. 8 most beautiful Snakes Head Fritillaty by the river; A ladysmock flower and baby copyu playing with their mother. All just wonderful, but so nicer to share with someone. picture link repaired by a mod (when posting a picture, include both [img] tags in your link)
