Thanks for the reply Nick. Interestingly a few years ago I bought a 6 month Merc that started life in Germany although it was supposedly to a UK spec (RHD). It failed its MOT because its rear fog light was on the near side (OK for Germany). Right I can relax now.  

Just bought a German car. One fog light. On the off side for the UK. It will be on the nearside in France. Am I in trouble if I put it on.  

Thanks for that.  Now I will have to find out who he/she was. I wonder if googlin will help.

Towards the end of Feb we will be completing on the purchase of our apartment in Etaples. The name of the road it's in is. Boulevard Bigot Descelers I'm having a problem trying to decide what it means in English.

Just been reading this thread. Very topical to us. We are off to sign in Feb 2006. Learnt a lot from your replies. Our purchase is an apartment in Etaples. Thanks for the info.
