  4. The wifes just listened to the recording and as she says ,its more a rubbing noise than a banging noise.I shall have a look next and see what I can see! Presumeably,if its deathwatch it would be all year round and not seasonal?

  6. Yes ,the finger tip tapping is exactly what it sounds like.If it is Deathwatch what does that entail?
  7. I think it must be insect of some kind because it is so rythmic.Also,if you bang the ceiling or wall it doesnt stop, whereas a bird or mouse,you would think,might.
  8. Not sure if anyone can help in this section but here goes. I was at my house in the Cher at the weekend and there were some very strange noises coming from the loft.The loft I should explain has a mud floor .The noises were a bit like cicadas but only four ratchet sounds at a time.Is it some kind of beetles mating call or something and if so need I worry about my house being eaten ?

  13. I travelled out 22 and back 31st december,no problems at all .In fact both times got on an hour earlier and we were part of a French Customs experiment with their dogs .That was quiet interesting if not a little strange.

  15. I,ve got a tree I'm removing in my garden that has mistletoe on it.I want to keep the mistletoe ,so does anyone know how to transfer it to another tree? I was told that by scratching the bark and then rubbing a berry on the wound would work but not sure.
  16. Sorry Cooperlola ,but the correct term for described fencing is chestnut "spiling" .Paling is just a general term for the act of applying pales.
  17. Not sure if I'm in the right forum but here goes.I've used the sentiers de emily walking books in a few regions of France but having now settled in the Centre I wondered if anyone knew of a region list of these walking books. I can't seem to find anything in my local bookshops.
  18. I must confess I have done that in the past. Trouble is it just lowers them not deflecting them,so the side of the road is very dark.
  19. Does anyone know of a deflector that can be removed and re-applied as and when needed ?It proves quite costly having to keep buying them

Travelled out on the 5.50pm on Friday 20/10 ,straight through check in,very kindly put us on the 5.15 train ,then disaster.The train broke down and could'nt move ,sat and watched our 5.50 train leave they then unloaded and reloaded us onto another train ,finally left at 6.40. Still,thems the breaks I suppose.Coming home Sunday all was fine and on time.
