  1. I had a panic thinking that I might have to brave the ferry in the winter but I have just telephoned Eurotunnel on the 'off chance' and was told that they have suspended the booking system online for certain dates - I have managed to book for 26/12 returning 31/12. i just hope that it runs better than last week - we spent nearly 2 hours sat on the train and had to wait ages at the french end to disembark - oh well still better than choppy seas !!!
  2. we  also came back on Friday via  P & O. We thought it would make a change for the kids as we usually use the tunnel- only took 1 hour to unload and pass through customs- now I know why I use the tunnel - i also think that they saved all of the roadworks on the M25 for friday night. It's hard enough to return after so long in rural France these things just give us more to feel blue about!!
  3. greece- that sounds good but unfortunately the budget won't stretch. The next trauma after the weather will be has MMe Fouine that has taken up residence in the loft evacuated!! let's hope so otherwise the smell after 6 weeks away will be awful let alone the damage she may have done- oh well we'll see when we arrive on Sunday
  4. thankyou so much - sunshine might be arriving- that'll keep the kids happy !!! and if it isn't accurate i will have to unwrap my new harry potter book that is sitting waiting on the side. i think i'll use your websites from now on as the weather seems better than on le meteo and i refuse to believe that summer will not arrive at some point- typical me i will only listen to the weather that i want to arrive- i'll be sat by the lake or pool in my pac a mac forcing the kids to go in no matter how cold it is - this is Summer you know !!!!   thank you again Nikki
  5. yes i know it's a shallow request but i have limited space in the car and would love the kids to be able to see out the windows. This weather in the UK is confusing me- is it as bleak in Normandy? - one day the woolies are out the next day the shorts. I have resigned myself to a summer in the Orne with a pac a mac and Wellies but a glimmer of hope would be nice ,we love to visit the local pool for a little bit of a sunbathe. We will just be happy to be there but does anyone know the long range forecast for the rest of August? - maybe i had just better order the logs now !! thankyou to you all
  6. hi all                 thankyou so much for all of your advice, I can see that I will need to settle down with the AA route planner and pick the nearest option, many thanks to all of who took the time to reply kind regards  Nikki x
  7. Hello Dick yes it is the 10th, I double checked as I couldn't believe how early it is next year  many thanks and kind regards  Nikki
  8. Hi there Feb half term (10th feb)- providing there will be enough snow around !!
  9. thankyou to you all for your replies.I'm sorry that my original post was so vague. we will be driving and whilst it would be nice to be in a resort as we will only be there for a few days it isn't essential. Cost unfortunately is as always an issue- the cheapest option would be great as all spare euros are being spent on plasterboard and insulation at the moment. Thanks again for all of your help                                    kind regards Nikki
  10. Hello, I wasn't sure where to post this request but would like to ask your advice. we have a house in 61 (orne) and are hoping to take the children to see 'proper' snow in Feb half term but we have looked on a map and cannot decide whereabouts is the nearest or easiest place to get to. We are only going for two or three days and will not be skiing but would like access to tobogganing etc just for the children (they are 9 and 7). In your opinions is it easier to travel from  the UK to the snow then on to our house or is it more direct to go to our house then on to the snow? I hope this doesn't seem like too silly a request but as we have no experience of ski ing or the relevant resorts  and other than sticking a pin in a map of France I'm really not sure where to start. thankyou so much for taking the time to read this ,I look forward to getting your responses
