    Duck poop

Any poop is good poop. Not sure whether it will be as high in nitrates as chickens' and with just the two it may take a while to get a bucketful. Happy poop scooping.

    Ticks again.

If you smoke (which other half does) then burning them with the cigarette butt works as an incentive for them to let go. Otherwise I suffocate them with cotton wool soaked in surgical spirit - they come out quite easily after that.
  3. And why did the mole cross the road? To get to your garden on the other side?
  4. Does anyone know whether the French use mercury as a stabiliser for the vaccinations? As there appears to be a possible link to autism for some children with a possible genetic predisposition I would like to avoid the Hg stabiliser (my brother is autistic).
  5. Be very sure what you are buying and what you plan to do with it. SAFER is there to protect farms and the farming community. If you are buying a working farm they will expect you to continue working it as it is, ie a dairy farm remains a dairy farm (any changes require permission - you will also need to apply for permission to farm), if not then they have the power to effect a compulsory purchase and evict you. That's where the ten year rule comes in. After ten years if you wish to sell, or change use, then you can without asking permission first. It may seem horrendous but if, like us, you are working farmers it does protect you and work in your favour. In our experience Estate Agents are ignorant of SAFER regulations (we very nearly ended up in big trouble because of it). If you want further info please contact my inbox.
  6. Reed bed systems are great. But you might still need to install a fosse septique due to regulations. Good luck.
  7. Could be that you've just got very happy lizards - or does that only apply to dogs? I wouldn't worry about radon gas levels unless they start glowing in the dark.
  8. Is anyone homesick for English bread, or am I just being weird? Am contemplating buying a bread maker but the other half says we can't afford it as we knead the dough. He never did have a sense of humour! Must go. Noise in background is baby Jaques air blasting his way through the side of the cot.
  9. We are looking to bring a horse trailer over with us but not sure about resale values. Choices currently are Wessex, Equitrek and Sluis. Are these popular in France? Comments and opinions please!
