1. You should find the following national stores in the area:  FLY.  BUT.  CONFORAMA  They all sell items of furniture, chinawear, kitchens, electric goods, televisions, computers, etc.,  NO FOODS.   You will also find Intermarche. Bricomarche. and many other large national stores similar to Tesco etc.  Don't worry , you will be able to find most things over here, you have to adjust obviously but that is not difficult. 2. Happy to recommend Email: [email protected] ( 0033 (05) 65 37 79 64.  Ask for Chris ( male ) or Ted. You can say I've passed their details on to you.  We had a pool installed in May  Recommended two other persons in your neck of the woods.  One is being installed this Month in your area so you could ask Chris. or Ted to find out if you could view.  Their prices are competitive.  I have absolutely nothing to do with them but am happy to recommend their work Regards les Facets Royston Watkins www.ruralfranceholidays.com
3. Is the area you are seeking near Montlucon L'Allier and from what date:  In addition to our holiday lets we have another property just a little North/West  of Montlucon that we may consider a long let, which is not a holiday let property Regards Les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
4.
Have you had any more bookings since you posted this or not?
Have had an enquiry from a chap with 10 children a wife who is a chain smoker and he runs a kennel business can't stand the day time so wants to fish at night.  What should I do ? Go For it ? !!!  ( I jest of course )  No not to date but keeping my fingers crossed. Regards Royston ( les favets )
5. If I had known what was coming ( I'd have baked a cake ) I jest ; but what a shame I had not thought to print off the comments as they came on line, it would have saved me having to come back on line and reread your comments ( which believe me I intend to do ) but at the moment because of so many comments and suggestions I am unable to visualise the overall solution coming out of this discussion group. I shall have to give time to bisect the information and put together those points which seem to me, to be more relevant. ONCE AGAIN ( and I don't mind repeating myself ) A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE GIVEN A LITTLE BIT OF YOUR TIME TO OFFER A HAND OF FRIENDSHIP Regards Les Favets ( Royston ) www.ruralfranceholidays.com
6.
Hi Royston, Several comments. (I've read throught the thread, and agree with many of the others' comments, by the way). I looked at your site, which looks very attractive (although you've put FAR to...
Hi Ian !! Now that is the sort of reply that feeds me some constructive information.  I am still on a learning curve in relation to correct marketing procedures to be used on web-sites and no way in a million years would I have been capable of puting a Web site together ( There I go again being negative ) But believe it or not  I AM NOT A NEGATIVE PERSON AND WHAT IS MORE although it does not come over to some people reading our web site. I am considered by many to be a friendly person. What I am leading up to ; THE SITE WAS PAID FOR and the key words were given by the professionals??  Q1  How do I submit it to search engines ?  Q2 " Location " key words ( what should have been done ? IN PASSING TO THE MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN KIND ENOUGH TO GIVE THEIR POINTS OF VIEWAND SUGGESTIONS : Thank you all yet once again and I will certainly take on board some of your suggestions. Regards Les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
7.
I personally would never stay anywhere that said 'unsuitable for children, pets and smokers.' It sends a message of rigidity and unfriendliness. Add to that a ban on night fishing and it begins to sou...
Point taken and accepted as fair criticisms but in all honesty, we are trying to be honest to potential clients and not waste their time ( not showing the details you refer to ) in them making contact with us only to establish that we have these policies.  We have covered the reason for ; Not suitable for children, because as stated our gites only able to sleep two person in one bed. re Pets, we adore dogs and have had them ourselves in the past but for the sake of hygiene in a space that is going to be used by many people some of which could be allergic ( as one of my daughters ) and also the smell that animals tend to leave in a property,we decided " No pets " which I am sure many or our readers here will agree and possibly have the same policy.  No Smoking!! Have you ever walked into a hotel room or house which has been used by a smoker ??? Once again there will be ( we Hope ) many people using our gites who do not smoke and we would not wish to force upon them the smell of stale smoke. In passing Deborah !! have noted your comments under this one.  I have a Deborah and you sound just like her ( happy go lucky and nice to know) .  I am sorry we can't cater for you but I am sure you will understand the reasons.  Perhaps  !! and not too soon , I hope when the children grow up you will have many happy times fishing JUST THE TWO OF YOU. Regards Royston ( Les Favets ) www.ruralfranceholidays.com

ONCE AGAIN A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL Les Favets ( Well Royston actually )
9. once again a big  THANK YOU  to you all for your input todate.  I am trying to arrange my mind around what has been suggested, so if somewhere along the way I don't cover comments in total, please don't think it a slight. I must remember that it is a selection of views that have been put forward. Not suitable for children is solely based arroung the fact that we can only accommodate 2 persons per gite and of course the lake. We do have info in Fishing Web sites but stress that we offer a holiday where one can fish in our lake rather then a fishing holily.  HOW DO WE  go about having people to visit our web site?  Will be looking at " Lay my hat " site ( looks good )  Advertise with various mags ( This one ) not Gites de France as everyone else , have a limited budget. Reduce prices in the Summer and high season ( surely that is the time when one is able to obtain a return for their investment )  Are my prices Hight ?  SORRY BUT I HAVE AN EMERGENCY SITUATION JUST COME UP AND HAVE TO LEAVE THE SITE  but will come on again this evening to complete my thoughts . Regards Les Favets Reg
10. Hi all !!  Nice to know there are friendly people out there.  I piggyback on three or four other websites. We don't offer family holidays because we are unable to accommodate the numbers in one gite.  We are offering the facility to fish in our lake but!! a big but! we do not permit night fishing which the professional would be looking for ( there are reasons ) It is ideal for couples who wish to get away from it all and are looking for a lay back relaxing holiday. If any of you know the area it does offer the facilities of many outdoor activities.  Re my website ( Here goes ): www.ruralfranceholidays.com Thank you all for you consideration and any further comments would be appreciated Regards les Favets
11. Have three gites in original stables a 7 hectare lake which our clients are able to fish freely inclusive of hiring. Gites are to a high standard.  Swimming pool, prices are not expensive We are situated in the Massif central area of the Auvergne bordering the Allier.  Have many active facilities attached to the region.  Advertise in this and other Magazines. Have installed own Website and have 2 bookings for the complete year. What am I doing wrong ? Les Favets
12. You missed one small point : I didn't say they were covering French number plated vehicles, infact when my son in law telephoned the Brokers to change his insurance agency because the insurance being offered was less expensive on indicating it was for his FRENCH registered vehicle, they wouln't cover him.  It seems only English registered number plates are covered.  Also one person mentioned, has claimed with no problem.  Beats me because I can't understand it and can't believe it is legal Regards Royston www.ruralfranceholidays.com
13. There are two or three persons in our area who have found that  ( clue only: Black horse of the City ) are insuring Enlglish registered vehicles of Brits living permanently in France and what is more they are cheaper then local French assurnce.  I can't understnd how these vehicles can reenter England for hols with no road tax no French nr plates and not be charged.  Any thoughts Regards Royston www.ruralfranceholidays.com
14. Firstly I am still on a learning curve when it comes to technical terms,, need everything spelt out, it's my age??? Over the past few months my computer often  just goes a blankety black on me and then the screen comes up with ; Improper shut down detected " and advises me to follow the following alternatives to come back on line ( Press ENTER ) or ( Press any letter ) to come back on line or ( press ALT/CTRL/DELETE ) which will re open windows.  I have tried these but what tends to happen the website I am using comes back on screen for a few seconds then it goes black again with the same instructions or!! It goes back to the website page I am using but the screen is mainly black and partial icons showing up with no movement of the mouse.  I have tried going to the help facility and it does offer some possibilities but when taking them up they do not register I am not able to bring them up.  The problem only takes place when I am using the web never on emails. It is becoming frustrating that I am not able to discover the fault   ANY HELP OR ADVISE (  In plain language please ) Regards les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
15. Hi all, a big THANK YOU for all your prompt replies.  I have taken up the first two suggestions only to find that , it would seem I am too far out in the sticks or should that be: I have too many sticks around me?  Will have to contend myself with the wanadoo booster. Regards les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
16. Good evening all,  I heard last year that broadband should have reached the area of France that I live in but have heard nothing since.  Could someone out there direct me to the site I need to come up on line to be able to confirm either way Regards les favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
17.   BUT WHAT ABOUT FLOGIT !!!: Joan !! don't you wish you had never posted this informtion !! Regards les favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
18. I had a similar problem but it was when I was using the web.  It would go blank or rather black on me and then come up with the information that an error has occured and refer me to some code I should look up.  This has been going on for the past 6 to 8 weeks and I started to feel that it occured more often when I was connected to a particular web site.  Even then I couldn't fathom out why I was having this problem.  When three days ago I noticed something taking place on an area of the screen whichI tended not to view closesly  It is when logging on ther is a listing to the bottom left hand side of the screen that advises " Down loading " and starts at a high number until it comes down to zero and informs you that it is " Done "  The problem was that although noticing this information what then took place which seems to be new, was that it switched back to tell me that there was a furthe 77 itmems to be down loaded.  Not noting this I continued using the web site and of course was giving it instructions when it was still loading down and the result was that it closed down on me indicating an error.  I now wait and make sure ( not just on tht website but also all I use )  that full downloading is complete and  BINGO !!!!! have had not further problems.  Now I am not saying this is your problem but it may start you wondering Regards Les Favets
19. Back to " Floggit "  Is it a take off of the BBC channel or is it associated with the same channel who have their own website and I note they have a French connection site for giving free value on old objects. les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
20. We offer  , not so much : A FISHING HOLIDAY but rather A HOLIDAY WHERE YOU CAN FISH IN OUR 7 HECTARE LAKE inclusive in the price of a gite.  Normally a dedicated fisherman would wish to perhaps fish at night and they also like to live it rough.  We do not permit this facility so therefor list our holiday accommodation as Holiday with fishing.  This also encourages the lady of the household to come along with hubby. We have carp, breme, pike, and several other species and wow you should see the birds attracted to our lake. Regards Les Favets www.ruralfranceholidays.com
21. Over the past two weeks on occasions, whilst I am on line, for no apparent reason the screen goes black on me and then I am told to hit any letter to see if it comes back on. or use the " Enter key ". Nothing happens and then up comes a warning that the computer has an unauthorised close down error and I have to wait for it to come back on and check my facilities.  Any idea's for this strange happenings Regards Les Favets
22. We Live on the border of the Puy-de Dome/ Allier approx 20 mins South of Montlucon on the N144.  We have just had a swimming pool installed and we now need to landscape the area around same.  Urgently needed. Regards Les Favets
23. Hi all !!!  Have found ourselves an English speaking French accountant. Had two half hour sessions with him ( All done )!!  Not painfull at all.  We had to have our forms signed ready for him to present by April. Regards Royston
24. I went through a similar problem with wanadoo and discovered I had a virus which they had been telling me about but I thought they were only advising me.  They were warning me to put it right.  I thought I had but obviously not because they cut me off and I had a h... of a problem trying to get them to reconnect me.   In the end I had to have a new e-mail address. Hopr this helps Regards Les Favets
25. During a discussion last night a topic relating to a friend of my son in law who lives in France and has an English right hand vehicle with English number plates.  The discussion revolved around the fact that the friend was able to obtain annual insurance cover from a well known English insurance company, therefor not changing his vehicle to a French registration.  I posed the question " What happens when he returns to England and he does not have a tax disc" and the argument was that as he lives in France permanently, he doesn't have to have to show a tax disc.  I cant believe that any one driving around England in a vehicle with English number plates without an English tax disc. would be legal, irrespective of that person now living in France.
