    Dentures

Thanks for the input Russethouse. As I said to Poppy earlier I'll post the outcome when we start looking into it tomorrow. Benjamin
  2. Steve If you're ever short of a fiver let me know. Benjamin

    Dentures

Not at all. We haven't had any need for denture repairs before, hence the question. Benjamin
  4. I found the little switch and thought I was pretty smart in turning the light off but during last night when I padded off to the loo I quite missed it's pulsing. I think I'm going to turn it back on again. Benjamin

    Dentures

Poppy Yes of course we'll update you when we find more info. Opas So why couldn't you have posted that info to begin with or just kept off the thread? We've been in and out of France since 1992  and haven't spent very much time in UK in the  intervening period. France tends to be a number of years behind UK in many things  (DIY sheds and sandwiches in supermarkets spring to mind) so my request was for any recent information that people have. Benjamin

    Dentures

Poppy Thanks for your help. I suppose subconsciously I was trying to cut out the dentist as the middle man.As it is I've found a listing under Prothesistes Dentaires in Yellow Pages so I may give one of them a try first. Opas What's the point of being on a forum like this if you can't ask for some advice? Benjamin

    Dentures

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get a hairline crack in a denture repaired and if so who should we approach? Benjamin
  8. Hi Bill We had a similar situation with ever increasing premiums with AGF. When I showed them an alternative car quote they magically manged to give me a reduction of just over 100 euros but to be honest they had already soured our relationship. We decided to go with Pacifica via our bank Credit Agricole for all of our insurances to try to simplify matters if we were to make a claim, say for something household that was stolen from the car. We've never made a claim which I always think is when you find out just how good your insurance company is. Benjamin
  9. And there's me thinking I should be safe after they put it up to 9,30 euros. Benjamin

  11. First ever visit here, but so what............... Yet another case of " snout in the trough ". Benjamin
  12. If you're talking about the UK/France Double Taxation Convention then it's an FD5. This is the one that lets you reclaim any tax you've paid in UK after you've become tax resident in France and then,if applicable, lets you have income paid gross in the UK which then becomes taxable in France. You can download an FD5 from www.hmrc.gov.uk/cnr/france-indiviual.pdf. Benjamin
  13. I've done all of the routes already posted (and then some) and our prefered route now is Biarritz into Spain. Just after San Sebastian turn for Vitoria/Gasteiz then Burgos. Straight down to Madrid and use the outer ring road heading for Valencia. Peel off for Alicante and then peel off for Murcia and then hit the A7. It's all motorway and pretty boring. The upside is that apart from the French side and the A8 as you cross the border and a small toll section between Vitoria and Burgos (don't get tempted to stay on the non toll road as it's an absolute pain) it's entirely FREE!!!!!!!! It's as quick or as slow as you want to make it. We used to live near Mojacar (a bit further south than Murcia). What's made the difference in recent years is the completion of the Murcia motorway after you peel off the Alicante motorway. Hope that helps. Benjamin
  14. Hi herbi. I don't know anything about horticultural nurseries but in one of your posts you say that the business you are looking at has lots of scope for development. Just a word of caution if you haven't already considered it, is that what works in UK will not necessarily work in France. As an example I am always amazed at finding garden centres and car showrooms closed on a Sunday. I often feel that the French have a different mindset with regard to maximising the assts in their businesses. Just a thought. Benjamin
  15. I haven't used it for some time now but I think you can specify motorways but if not just use a town/village near the A28 as a way point. Benjamin
  16. Hi SD I quite agree but it's not always possible to see the very large signs erected on the nearside of the road. As an example we were driving north towards Bordeaux on the A10 earlier this year when returning from Spain. The road is dual carriageway and almost motorway standard. The speed limit is 110kph. In a couple of spots near bends the limit is reduced to 90kph. There are certain sections where lorries are banned from overtaking so you often get a long line of lorries in the inside lane which can easily prevent you from seeing these large signs. The radar camera however is situated in the central reservation with a clear view of any vehicle in both lanes. Having been fined 45 € last year for my first ever motoring offence (for which I had been caught) I now use the cruise control all the time. Benjamin
  17. As Cassis has already said earlier on this thread use www.viamichelin.com as this will give you the exact location of fixed radar sites. Benjamin
  18. Gigi Welcome to the forum. Q1- Try searching under the section Gite Owners In France and then refining your question a little more. Q2- Give us some idea of what you are looking for. Is it a recomendation for a particular make/model or is it a how to do it question? Benjamin
  19. Bernice, could you just elaborate a little please? Were the sight test and lenses reimbursed 100% and if so what were the percentages paid and by whom? What level of Mutuelle do you have  eg 100%, 200% etc? Finally, how much of the cost of the frames were reimbursed and by whom? Benjamin
  20. Hi Andy. Thanks for the info. I'm obviously with the wrong bank. I've just looked at Barclays Internet site and this is what it states concerning overseas transfers. International payments. It's currently not possible to make payments online to accounts outside of the UK. Like most other people who've moved to France and want to retain a UK bank account for whatever reason, I'm reluctant to go asking my current bank too many questions in case they decide to close my account. Benjamin ps I've just been looking on another forum and someone's had their credit card withdrawn because they now live abroad.
  21. Thanks for the info Hagar. I've looked at their site and the income/borrowing requirements are a bit too rich for me these days. I don't really want to spend 240 quid a year just to make four transfers a year. I will admit I haven't asked my bank recently but the answer always used to "sorry no can do" but see my next posting. Benjamin
  22. Right, back on thread. Hi thetwoofus Looking back on the posts trying to answer your questions I think you have already said it all in the second paragraph of your posting at 16:09 yesterday. The topics that you need answers to are just so vast and complicated you will find it very difficult to get a definitive answer on any forum never mind this one. You clearly need professional advice. I don't know how you initially came across Tee France but as nobody seems able to recomend another company why not give them a try? Benjamin
  23. Thanks for the response. I take it therefore you're referring to Abbey International. Whenever I've mentioned to any bank about making transfers abroad via the internet  they seem to want to run a mile. I look forward to the OH's return. Sorry for continuing to take this off thread. Benjamin
  24. ali@ards Could you just expand a little bit on your ability to transfer money from your UK bank to France via the internet please? Benjamin
  25. Looking at your responses to the replies already given I think you've already decided what to do. Go on.......give Tee france your money (whoever they are). Benjamin
