Bonjour Frenchie. je vous ai deja envoye un couriel hier mais je ne suis pas sure que vous l'ayez recu. Je repondais a vous questions. Je suis francaise mariee a un anglais. Residence principale en Angleterre. Essex et plus precisement Mersea Island, une petite ile, au large de Colchester sur la cote est de l'Angleterre. Point d'origine de l'invasion de l'Angleterre par les romains. Personnellement je suis originaire du Quercy et nous avons une maison a Carlux, entre Souillac (Lot) et Sarlat (Dordogne) Le prenom Paule est tout simplement l'equivalent du prenom masculin Paul. Les anglais ont plutot tendance a m'appeler Paula. En ce moment je suis a Carlux jusqu'a dimanche ou je vais chez mon fils a Meung sur Loire, pres d'Orleans et de tous les chateaux de la vallee de la Loire. Puis une smaine plus tard je repartirai sur l'Angleterre. Mais je reviendrai fin fevrier/debut mars a Carlux. Si cela peut vous consoler il fait encore plus vilain temps en Angleterre! A galere was a war ship up to the XVIIIe. It had sails and oars. Criminels used to be condemmed to row on the king's galeres.  Hence quelle galere meaning a very apleasant situation or a very hard work!

Help please! I can locate a digibox for Sky and know enough about dishes etc to get by. The problem is am I wasting my time? Our house is located near Sarlat in the Dordogne and faces South with a reasonably open vista East and West. However, immediately at the rear of the property there is very steeply inclining rock face probably 150 metres high that will obscure any dish pointing in a northerly direction. Our French television already works off a satellite dish and we receive all French channels but the dish points in a southerly direction. Logic would indicate that to pick up SKY the dish would have to point in a Northerly direction to pick up the Sky footprint. If anyone can offer me a compass bearing from the Sarlat area indicating where the satellite is to be located and an angle of inclination ( I am sure there are technical terms for this information) I would be very grateful. This information may possibly save a great deal of work and frustration. Any other advice would also be welcome Paule and Gerry
