  1. Slight thread drift but.........we bought some, 6 for 18 euros and one for 50 euro. There was no difference in longevity or performance price wise but overall they were less than promised on the packaging in terms of lighting. Successful use of solar lighting ? Anyone got any comments ? Smile W
  2. Yeah I enjoyed it too..........learn something new every day ! W
  3. Araucaria i stand corrected thanks, I put it down to the Fen pronunciation of the word as i have never seen it written down. Having googled a load of stuff re this i think that our build is almost like cob construction ......see here: http://www.iaosb.com/html/cob_construction.html Be fascinating, not to mention cost effective, to build a house like this nowadays...almost a Passivhaus !! Rgds W
  4. Thanks again ..........expert ! W
  5. Hi Ericd Thanks so much for that. Where's the text from ? We are near the Durance and it is exactly as described with galets from the river. Thanks again Wilko
  6. Hi We own an old mas in Provence. The way it was built was basically a mixture of earth, stones and lime, shuttered up to a metre, let go off, then continue...........it is typical of the area........it's a bit like clunge build in the UK. It is most effective........I can testify... if you try to jack hammer it is exraordinarily tough. Does anyone know the french for this type of build. Google doesn't translate clunge !! Thanks W
  7. Hi.........need a bit of advice. I need to install some sort of pump to augment the pressure in domestic water system. We have a B&B and when all 5 showers are on the go I have no-where near enough pressure. Any advice on installation, can it be installed outside to cut noise ?, make and types of pumps and ball park prices Cheers Wilko
  8. Chez Tinns Could you post details of the product SVP W
  9. Have you checked with the "other notaire's" office that the 10K is deposited with them ? Why did they change notaire ? Did they not receive the email you sent to them on the 1st ? I think they are trying to have a foreigner over.Don't give 'em a bean. W
  10. This might be of interest to those of you who hate R/Air. http://www.laprovence.com/article/region/marseille-elle-attaque-ryanair-pour-un-retard-de-vol-de-17-heures W
  11. So Quillan why not take the cheque and see if it produces cleared funds ? W
  12. Thanks for all the responses guys. I think I'll just leave it and hope it fires u when i next need it. Cheers W
  13. Hi I'm leaving the car unused and outside for 3 weeks, will my battery survive better if I disconnect the 2 terminals, i think I have read this somewhere but can't find it so maybe I dreamt it !! W
  14. Théière........where on Superquilt's site does it say it has passed the hot box test ? i can't find it. It still needs to be used in conjunction with other insulation and when doubled up they don't show any thermal figures. you have to install with a 25mm air gap either side and when you staple it to the beams you create a cold bridge. I think the Germans have got it absolutely right right. W
  15. I'd really like to watch the videos but when i click on one of them, she talks for 5 seconds and then the wheel whirls around for another 10 seconds ie a 5 minute video takes 15 minutes to watch...........is there some sort of non too techy solution ? Thanks Wilko
  16. The download form the link below Conclusions 6.3 A model developed for the prediction of multi-foil system thermal behaviour indicates that the level of performance achieved even if the best possible materials were used in its construction, silver coatings with an emittance of 0.02 and foam core materials with a thermal conductivity equivalent to aerogel blankets 0.012W/mK, they do not obtain a lower U value than 200mm of mineral wool insulation. BD2768 The download is here http://www.communities.gov.uk/publications/planningandbuilding/multifoil Yet Actis/Trada says: The assessment indicates that when TRISO SUPER 10 is used as specified in the manufacturers “Fixing Instructions” (Product Application Guide, Ref: PZ182 and Technical Data Sheet, Ref: PZ177), the thermal insulation value is equivalent to mineral wool (glass) of 210 mm thickness. I guess it’s up to the reader as to what you believe but I won’t be using multifoil in any build soon. Spot on. If we are to assume that people use the products that they make and/or sell does this mean that the workers who make Rolls Royce's or Ferarri's should all be driving around in them, of course not. Thanks for that very valid and relevant point Quillan bit like all the people that work for NASA flying around in space shuttles. W
  17. The link is to a thread on the Greenbuilding forum which has been running for 4 years re multifoil insulation.. This link should show the last page and a couple of guys have posted an overview, saves reading the previous 800 posts. It doesn't appear to fulfill it's promises. Incidentally one of the posts said that the Actis factory wasn't insulated with their own product. http://www.greenbuildingforum.co.uk/forum114/comments.php?DiscussionID=125&page=27 Stay warm W
  18. Pierre I found this http://www.essortment.com/all/termitetreatmen_riyx.htm Not half as scary as I thought. W
  19. I have searched the net but can't find a radon map of France..............anyone know of one svp. i did discover that there is a town by the same name. Cheers W
  20. Pierre thanks for that. Took a while to respond, missed the nudge to say there was a reply. L&G....it depends on your budget, maybe less than 5K I'd buy locally........check out the 2 sites I mentioned previously to compare prices in Belgium and Germany.
  21. Pierre thanks again. Do you know if the prices shown include TVA and if this is deductible if i buy via my company ? if this is the case what is the rate of TVA en suisse. Thanks for your help Wilko
  22. Pierre do you have any web sites en Suisse for 2nd hand cars ? I have looked at these 2 in Belgium and Germany: http://www.mobile.de/home/index.html?lang=en http://www.belcyber.net/cars/ Cheers W
