  1. Latest update re the Poitiers cancellation... upon trying the telephone number Ryanair supplied to sort out refund  ... constant 'dead line' tone!!  Oh hum!
  2. If your flight is cancelled ...you will be entitled to a travel credit or full refund of all monies paid if the alternative flight/s offered are not suitable to you and you do not travel. Ryanair does not provide compensation for flights which are delayed or cancelled for reasons beyond Ryanair's control. ....Your rights under EU Regulation 261/2004 are unaffected so in the case of denied boarding, flight cancellation or a delay in excess of two hours you will be provided with a written notice setting out the rules for compensation and assistance in line with such RegulationI don't recall anyone being provided with a written notice re compensation or assistance on Sunday more's the pity... all we got was a phone number to ring. The reason for not flying was adverse weather conditions, - drizzly weather/low cloud (but I'm not a weather girl) - so the incoming flight was diverted to Tours.
  3. The reason given was identical to Cat 46's - severe weather conditions... drizzle?? Apparantly the in coming plane had been diverted to Tours and then the customers bused to Poitiers.  No response given to the question - 'why couldn't we be bused up to Tours'! I can't grumble either about Ryanair, as I mentioned earlier they've always been pretty good, but I don't want to get caught out like this again in a hurry... I have thought of loads of other things I could have blown a quick £500 on!!
  4. I hope any readers of this forum that were stranded at Poitiers airport Sunday evening when Ryanair cancelled the flight home managed to get back to England ok in the end - I especially felt sorry for those of you with young families...  We were told that there were no available seats until Tuesday/Wednesday this week. We ended up spending the night in Poitiers and coming back via TGV and Eurostar yesterday - tres expensive!!!  Not that I'm expecting any compensation from Mr Leary I have been using Ryanair for the past two years without any problems, but Sunday's cancellation has made me a bit jittery...  has anyone else experienced sudden cancellations, and do they happen that often?
  5. Well, this Londoner is really pleased with the result, as was the rest of the office when we heard the result.  A couple of us jumped straight on the tube to Trafalgar Square to join the revelries - too bad it was Mel C (sporty spice) singing on stage!  Anyway we were part of the celebrations for 15 minutes before having to get back to another boring meeting! Its just the next stage in the major regeneration of London, and there is a lot of it about; Kings X where I work (no dodgy comments please!) is really coming on leaps and bounds, and south of the River along Woolwich Arsenal has a lot of development underway.  London is a fantastic city - I love it!
  6. I always have a problem with my name Leigh... if I pronounce it to any non-English speaker they reply back 'Lay' no say I, 'Leeeee' and if I spell if for them... well, I get 'Leg', 'leghkk' all sorts! Doesn't help as I'm female and its more of a 'blokey' name, so I can't give an actress name as an example, well there's Jamie Lee Curtis I suppose, but it's not spelt the same!! Thanks mum and dad!
  7. Thanks Tim, Wendy and Jim et al. We have sorted out somewhere to stay courtesy of Michelle and Lee (Alias Chezchells I think..) We will have the keys on 2nd Nov...so will be around St Aubin's up until the following Sunday. If anyone fancies a cup of tea or something stronger (can't guarantee I have a cup or glass by that stage!) please pop round, you'll be more than welcome! Leigh
  8. Thanks Tim - I would be grateful.. have you still got my email addr?
  9. We have a completion date at last on our house in St Aubin le Cloud! (1st Nov) We hope to stay in a hotel for a few nights in order to sort out the house, buy beds etc... I have looked on the internet, there are a couple of hotels in Parthenay, but can anybody recommend one... or in the surrounding area betwixt Parthenay and Secondigny for instance....?
  10. Lavenderlady, I would love to have a translation please! Thanks Leigh
  11. Ah! But methinks I told you Le Petit Bois when in fact its Le Grand Bois! (smiley! -where do you find these??) So does that make us nearer to you or not? Leigh
  12. Tim - how do you know??? I still can't get over the fact that we haven't got a door number! How will the postman find us??? 6 weeks and counting!
  13. I have a number of Series Carte Bleue maps which I bought in France, and found a website in England that will take internet orders - they have a search map so you can pinpoint the area that you're after - delivery for first map was quick, second map was out of stock but they kept me informed, and have just posted it out. http://www.elstead.co.uk
  14. Thanks Helen - have looked on their site (I will go and do some work sometime today!) and they have a store outside Parthenay which is close to us. Does anybody know the French for 'Can I hire a van please???'
  15. Thanks to all... what I'll do in between pretending to work on a boring report, is to have a look on the web for some of these stores to see if they're in our locality - and go from there.... Yipee! Window shopping - love it!!
