  4. You are very lucky to live in Sorreze.  I love the tiny little bar there cant swing a cat but what an atmosphere.  The Tarn is very special dont see many brits there.  Revel market yum yum.
  5. Graulhet,  I think that is how it is spelt.  If you draw a line between toulouse and castres it is situated just north of the line.  It is not a small town but is not in rough guide book.  ERA France have an immobilier there and thats about all I know sorry.
  6. Anyone know what exactly is happening with this new road from Toulouse to Graulhet?
  7. Dewima, Two apoligies 1)spelling you name incorrectly 2) Not realising you are not already living there.  However, you say you like the villages outside Albi.  Trey looking at Lautrec.  The proposed road through the Tarn will make it more accessible to Toulouse and therefore (so I have been told) a good investment.  It is a hilltop bastide and is not yet in any tourist book.  It is famous for its red label garlic (the champagne of the garlic world) and holds two festivals each year. Walking is excellent around the village and plains with many marked tracks and views to Pyrenees and Black Mountains.  http://ot.lautrec.free.fr/   It seems there are many old ruined village houses perhaps the canny owners are waiting for the increase check it out.   Karen.

  14. Hi I am sure this topic has come up time and again.  On the bright side, I hope there are some people who can help me. I a thinking of placing my son (starting 12 equivalent of A levels) and my daughter (starting year 10 equivalent of GCSE) to international school toulouse.  I believe fees are 10,000 euro per annum. I have been having difficulty downloading this.  Also I have found the website uninformative with regards to success rate.  In other words, how good is this school.  Finally, I have been told there is an english speaking school in Castres.  Does anyone know of this. Because, my children are in crucial school years I do not feel right about sending them to state school in case they fall by the wayside.  However, I am open to suggestions.   Maxi.
  15. I believe the planning laws in France have become very strict with septic tanks etc., and because of this it is difficult to obtain planning permission to build unless one connects to the main sewer.  (Please stop me there if I am wrong).  Also, I am planning to buy land to build and am confused eg., Is land ever sold with outline planning?  What is the position with regards to drainage? If planning permission is granted does it expire after 5 years? Please could some kind person sort my head out???   Maxi !!
  16. Hi Does anybody know the economic outlook for the construction industry around the Toulouse area.  My husband is a building surveyor and quantity surveyor employed in UK.  We have decided to sell and move on but he would prefer to stay within his profession.
