The notaire's office that I used to deal with would accept P60s or statements of account for the most recent years. Try asking if they will accept another type of proof of UK tax liability. Otherwise you my well find that you receive your funds minus any potential plus-value liability. Best to check this with them at the same time.

Can anyone tell me if they have sailed from Caen to Portsmouth on a strike day? More importantly, have they travelled with animals? I've spoken to the french offices of BF this morning who were suitably vague (understandably). They said that they didn't think we would have problems, and to be fair to BF, they have more or less sailed throughout the previous strike days. However, we are travelling with large numbers of animals at great cost, and I need to be as reassured as possible that we won't experience major problems. Does anyone have any advice?

Something I have always wondered
Can anyone tell me how much land you have to have for SAFIR to become involved? We are selling our house and when we enquired why it was taking so long we were told that it was SAFIR holding things up. This was the first time it had been mentioned - about 8 weeks after signing the compromis. Should it have been mentioned when we signed? Our buyers didn't know anything about it either. Our agent said that we could have paid about 300 euros to have it fast tracked! - if, of course, we had been told about it! Thanks Brian K
It's anything over 1000 m2 and it's nowhere near 300 euros for the fast track but SAFER can refuse to fast track if they want. -

French Vets costs for dog returning to UK
Judie replied to carterland's topic in Animal Welfare, Rescue & Protection
I have an extremely good deal with my wonderful french vet. 117 euros for 8 cats and a dog returning to the UK in two weeks time. But she has known me for 8 years and I've put a small fortune in her coffers over the years as my long-suffering husband will testify to. I do bring my own Frontline with me which reduces the cost a little. Perhaps you can try that. -
Does anyone know if there are further strikes planned this month?

I managed to find our commune by going via the route Richard51 suggested having found the same error message trying it via postcode. Bizarrely the postcode was there once I'd found our commune ???!!!??

Surely the vet who deals with the dog's passport in France must check the microchip as part of the return procedure? At least that way they would have known before they got back to Dunkirk.

Checks on gas bottles are only made if the pipes coming from them are fixed rather than the flexible hose that is normally used.

No, my mother's return was submitted on the same day as ours. She had her avis about 10 days ago, we've not had ours yet.
As a result of seeing Gardener's post, I too had a look and .............. it's there. A nice rebate coming my way too (installation of new windows, so an offset vs tax due). What amazes me is that there was no demand for documentary evidence of the offset claim. (I filed online). I've got it & it's all genuine, but nonetheless. I can only guess that they accept below a certain threshold and check a proportion of claims.
Beware of becoming too complacent!! We filed online last year and then had a 4 month investigation by the tax office which stemmed from not providing documentary evidence of my travel expenses. This year we filed directly and used an accountant in order to ensure everything was as correct as it could be. Still not received the avis but I've looked at it online.

Weather - Mayenne v Sarthe
Judie replied to tonyinfrance's topic in West (Bretagne, Pays de la Loire, Poitou-Charente)
We live in North Mayenne about 7 km from the normandy border. That said there are some reasonably priced properties around Ferte Mace. Good luck with your search. Chris
But La Ferté Macé is in the Orne.
