1. They are the same as ours http://chrislooker.co.uk/roof/roof.png http://chrislooker.co.uk/roof/tile.jpg There ya goo, clickable now. On ours the gable edge tiles are cemented on as are the bottom edge tiles. The rest are just laid there and held by gravity. I have had to life one or two of them on out summer kitchen and main house roofs and  all you do is remove the one you want to, simply lift it out and slide it back in. So easy and so efficient too! Try not to walk on them unless they are dry. They tend to be softer when wet and I have cracked a couple by walking on them then.
2. Is that the sort of thing you are talking about J?
3. Firstly, a photo of what you are trying to do be help? But if it's like this Then it's called Genoise and here is some info on it http://www.meda-corpus.net/eng/gates/PDF/F2/D04_FRA.PDF The original idea was that before guttering and down pipes were around it kept water falling from the roof away from the house walls. All the posh places had/have them and the more layers the more bestest. Our house has 3 [:-))][8-|]
4. Ta for that Andy. AV, obvious if you don't have a Mac [6] but the others were unknown to me.  Or would that be UTM? Just waiting now for some €€€€ from our Impot after our visit between Krimble and New Years. That was a real experience to walk into an EMPTY Impot office, apart from a few staff, and in/out within 25 minutes. A querie as to why they hadn't paid part of the money we has asked for before. Don't ask what it was because the Chef looks after anything wot I can't hit wiv a 'ammer.
5. For those not familiar with it P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; } The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which low-ability individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly assessing their ability as much higher than it really is. Dunning and Kruger attributed this bias to megacognitive incapacity, on the part of those with low ability, to recognize their ineptitude and evaluate their competence accurately. Their research also suggests corollaries: high-ability individuals may underestimate their relative competence and may erroneously assume that tasks which are easy for them are also easy for others. Dunning and Kruger have postulated that the effect is the result of internal illusion in those of low ability, and external misperception in those of high ability: "The miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others. So don't say that you don't know, even if you like me are a bit dim [8-)][:-))]
6. FWIW, BTW, AV? Blimey Earny, you sound like an IBM salesman? They love all their letters. Pray tell me, what do they mean [8-)] (genuine question)
7. I have that in the roof of my workshop, but mine is 5 foil layers and silver on both sides. I got it from a company in Grenoble and it was quite expensive, but it works and works well. [8-|]It keeps the heat both in and out so, if it's free then why not use it??
8. I agree totally Gluey! If Mc DoDos were cut out and the like, then that would be a great start. There are far too many over processed so called foods on the market that weren't there when our parents fed us. Man made fats that the body has no idea what to do with cause untold problems. As do drinks that are mainly sugar. But, they are profitable to the clowns that make/market them. “It is probably no coincidence that the UK has one of the highest rates of obesity in the world, while it is also one of the world’s most globalised, advanced economies,” added Dr Costa-Font. No worries there, it ain't going to be for long init [:-))] I love the idea of diets, in fact I'm on 3 or 4 at the moment. Well there just ain't enough on one is there [8-)]
9. Probably still asleep after too much trukie, pud, mince pies and cake. [blink] So eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you may diet [6]
10. As Gluey said that link just goes tot he DM home page, so are you infering that Michael's heart attack was caused by a bullet [8-)] If not then could you enlighten please?
11. Just got back from having a blood test taken and the lab we use for it has Wifi, so if you iwsh I can let you know which one it is ALBF, so you can stay in touch old fellow [geek]
12. Hear, hear ET, that's from both Mrs JJ and me!! [B] I'm not really a fan of camper vans, but I can see the reason that you like them and long may that difference last. It would be a boring place if we all thought/did the same init already! For a start either everyone or no-one would touch the new fivers would they? [:'(]
13. Just PM me and I'll give you the address to send them to [:-))][6][6] http://www.bbc.com/news/business-38144598
14. I had a caravan too and throughly enjoyed it. But remember that there are good and bad in all disciplins so if you ain't tried caravaning then you ain't qualified to knock it are you.. [;-)] Almost all of the time, holdups with caravans aren't caused by the rig but the clown following it who 1) won't pass and 2) won't leave enough space for anyone to pass them and then the rig. They make it about the same size as an inconsiderate truck driver and there are LOADS of them navigating here in France [Www]
15. I have a dashboard camera too and if you think that they are only found in the U.K. then you should get out a bit more me-thinks [blink] One of the things that they can do is dig you out of mire not of your own making. Anyone who is 'glued' to a GPS whilst driving will probably be holding a phone on thier shoulder too and should be removed from the road. A GPS is an aid. I also use mine on unfamiliar roads to tell me just where the road goes and how tight the corners are. I still don't belt around them because it doesn't tell me if there is a bleedin great tractor with lethal spikes heading my way and out of sight. We also navigated all around France before GPS was available and due to the 'wonderful' French sign system we got lost occasionally. It must be wonderful to NEVER get lost?[Www]
16. WIFI on holiday is great for finding out about the place you're staying at. And don't say that you can find it all from the local TI or by forward planning, some/most, but not as much as the things you hear of or see when there. We have just had a trip back to Blighty and had to go to see someone we've not been to before. My TomTom took us straight to his door and I have yet to find a paper map that can do that? I am a great fan of paper maps and I pour over them lots when we are away, the ones I have for the area that is [8-)]. They tell all sorts of stories. My collection starts with the 3/6p cloth backed OS jobbies and comes forward from there. When I was stationed at Brize Norton I was lucky enough to be going out with a WRAF lass who worked in Flight Planning and she aquired several (well lots ) OS maps of all over the U.K. OK, that was a long time ago and there's loads of changes to the main roads, but the country doesn't change and they are still useful. But my TomTom 6100 has included lifetime map upgrades of the World, traffic conditions and speed, sorry safety cameras and when there are traffic problems it suggests a way around them. I use a womans voice on mine as I find it easier to ignore at times. Practice I suppose [:-))][8-|]
17. Well this was taken at about 8 this morning and it hung there in a beautiful lue sky It looked assy grand to eye [:-))]
18. 19. It looks larger for the same reason tht the sun does when it's near the horizon. When you look up at either you are looking through the depth of the atmosphere and that is realitivly shallow compaired to when you see either near the horizon, because when you are looking towards that horizon you are looking along the atmosphere and therefore much more of it. That magnifies the object and it looks bigger. Good ere init [B] Anyway, it ain't the size that matters, it's what you do with it [8-)]
20. Well, I was able to read me book outside by it [8-|] It is a Kindle Paperwhite though, so does that count [8-)] It was quite bright though. A bit like me I suppose?
21. An English friend of ours would use his favourite quote on this "what country are we in?" We lived in Villemoustaussou for 8 months and our number was 104 rue des Thingys. Next door was 263 (or something like that) next was a lower number. They were all built about the same time and we thought that the new owners were offered a hat with a load of numbers in and you just dipped in for yours? They just seemed totally random [8-)] But as for yours Gaurdian, it seems like a functionier makeing sure he don't not get bored?
22. "Drat!  We are going to be très nuageux" Your lucky, it looks as if we are going to get lots of cloud cover [8-)]
23. I wonder if Mrs Clinton will go for political assylum before she gets locked up [8-)]
24. OK, forgive my ignorance, but what the hell is an APN? I have tried a search on it and all that brings up is a Yanky API? The reason for asking is that we are going to the U.K. in a couple of weeks, flying from Carcassonne. Does that have any effect on having/not having this thing? We flew back in July, from Beziers, and didn't seem to need one then?
25. You wana think yersel lucky Dave! Our dechetterie is closed all day Sunday. When we go in to empty the trailer of our garden waste the bloke in there usuall takes the fork of SWMBO and insists on getting on the other side to me and empties it! So don't complain too much init [:-))]
