  1. it seems to be normal, these alarms are utter rubbish and not consistant at all. You can drop a 6 kilo weight in off the coping stones 10 times and if you are lucky 6 times it might detect it. however it will go off every time it rains or is windy. mg have made a great wind and rain detector and a very bad pool alarm.
  2. does anyone know more about the school holidays being reduced to 2 weeks during the summer in the UK from 2006 if this is correct that will kill the gite market for those that rely on UK based clients and the ferry companies too. mike
  3. don't wory about it, you advertised an above ground pool and through no fault of your own it didn't arrive, so at great expence and time to ensure your guests got a pool you made other arrangments. I've just installed an inground pool and the surrounds do not look perfect. again like you i was let down by people with diggers etc for the landscaping and in the parking area i have a big pile of gravel which i promised our 1st guests i would remove this week, i still haven't done it yet and i've appologised, but they are not bothered as their kids are having a ball playing in it. personally i always worry wether the guests are going to like our gites, at the end of the day you can't please everybody
  4. we have a 2 bed cottage in Brittany set in 7 acres near Combourg and Dinan, near all shops etc if you would like more details mail me. mike
  5. i've just installed a waterair and it seems very good to me, was very easy to install. its for our gites and i will have a no glassware rule around the pool, i doubt it will be any problem as waterair also supply huge pools with liners to campsites and hotels, they also sell a repair kit should the liner get damaged. my experiencewith waterair was a good one, their tech support phoneline is very good, should u needany other info get back to me
  6. if you are not up to defending yourselves or fighting like with like and doing a bit of damage to his property then go down to you local hunting shop and they should sell guns that fire rubber bullets, you are allowed to shoot someone with these guns to defend yourself. have a camcorder handy too which would be usefull in proving any threats you may have. what area are you in out of interest mike
  7. I've just installed my own pool in kit form from waterair.fr and the cost for the hole digging and trench for services and hole for pump house was about 380 euro. it took the guy 7hrs with a JCB
  8. Jean Paul i found the below on a site, it may qnswer your question, Regards Mike IMPORTANT NOTE concerning safety standard NF P90-307 To avoid our clients encountering any compliancy problems concerning regulations within the new swimming pool safety standard, we should like to draw their attention to the following obligatory points as stipulated by the safety standard : ==>The detector unit must be placed so that the maximum distance between the detection unit and all possible zones of entry into the pool is less than 7m. For example, if you place the unit in the middle of the pool surround, your pool must not be bigger than 50 M, or 10 m x 5 m or 8 m x 6m or 12 m x 4 m. Over and above these distances, it will be necessary to install two detector units. ==> in the case of a sloping ledge into the pool, the slope must be more than 30%. Beyond a slope of 30%, the installation of an alarm is authorised, however the manufacturer advises you against this type of safety device as it loses its effectiveness.
