We are renovating a large barn and need to employ experienced artisans.  We have the plans drawn up and whilst we are waiting for the permissions to come through require some quotes for the forthcoming job.  The project is likely to commence early 2006.  Having heard lots of horror stories any recommendations would be gratefully received.  We will only employ fully registered artisans french and/or english speaking. We are located 10 minutes north of St Lo, and prepared to accomodate if required. Thanks Debbie

My daugther is 5 and currently in the moyen section of maternelle, I agree that in comparison there is a big difference in styles and what is considered important at what age.  At the moment I am happy to sit back and go with the flow because at 5 she can speak 2 languages with a fluency in one that I would be proud of (no need to guess which one!).  I am struggling with what to teach in English and when, for example the letter sounds in English are different in French so if I teach her to read in english will this confuse her and delay her progress in french?     

I am now 33 weeks pregnant, filled in all the forms, received all other info and even been paid the maternity grant but still no carnet de maternite!

My daugther at 3 years old started maternelle last year, over this time she has had a couple of accidents, normally caused by sleeping too heavily on their early afternoon nap! When this has happened she has been treated with the utmost respect and clothes have been provided with her own clothes bagged up.

I need to get the house rewired and therefore would welcome any names and contact details of recommended electrians. English speaking, at least in part would be helpful. We are located on the border of Calvados and Manche between Bayeux & St Lo. Thank you in anticipation of your help. Debbie
