1. I'm confused then? The taxe fonciere for 2012 will be due to be paid around October 2012, won't it? If so, I would rather hold off paying until then. The direct debit I have been paying since January is for 2011. This is the first year I have paid by direct debit and I remember paying 2010's fonciere last October. So logic dictates nothing to pay til next October if I cancel the dd now. And I've still heard nothing from my tenant, the git.
2. Good, I can cancel the direct debit and hope my house sells by this time next year then.
3. This is paid in arrears, isn't it? So 2012 will be due about this time next year?
4. I did UK to Oz 14 years ago. Used Pickfords to move stuff. One of the best moves I ever made.
5. I've found that if you hire a car in France via a UK website it is much cheaper. I went to hertz.co.uk and hired a small car for about €30 a day. When I compared it to gertz.fr, the robbing barstewards quoted €90 for the day. So that quote does sound ok if from a UK rental site.
6. The contact person on my site is the English agent I have listed the house with. He's been great, even going round and trying to get access. My tenant has been polite, and still occasionally sends me polite emails, but never responds to my questions. I am friends with his ex girlfriend, I may ask her to do some digging for me, find out what he is playing at.
7. I've tried both those suggestions with him and he just ignores my emails.
8. Sure, he needs a roof over his head, but he also needs to be able to pay for it, otherwise he is stealing. I need food, so maybe I can go into Intermarche and take some without paying then? That's where that law falls down.
9. Thanks for the replies. Guess I'm just going to have to wait until he vacates at the end of October then. Lesson learnt.
10. That part really worries me. I wonder who comes out with these daft laws. Must be legal to steal in France then? Just goes to show you can't even trust friends. Never again. But my question is is he legally obliged to make my house available if I have given him notice for an inspection?
11. I have a tenant in my house, who is supposed to be my friend, but he is refusing all access to agents trying to sell my house. I have a potential buyer coming up from Portugal mid October and I have left him countless messages requesting access to the house but he never responds. What can I do? He is fast not being my friend. He says he is going to leave at the end of October (good riddance I say), but I have a very interested buyer in the middle of October and I'll be very annoyed if he costs me the sale. Surely I have a right to have people inspect my house, especially as I am giving him plenty of notice? I am very annoyed and hurt. The bastard.
12. Remember the days of Thatcher, Reagan, Gorby and Hawke? May not have agreed with their policies, but boy could they lead! Strong personalities and the balls to make decisions. I have nothing against Obama, he probably would have made a better president in easier times, but right now we need someone to just do instead of say. We need someone to grab the world by the balls and drag it back up again, but all the leaders seem too wishy washy - Cameron, Sarko, Obama, none have that je ne sais quoi! :)
13. The really worrying thing is there really doesn't look like anyone capable of being able to lead at present Obama is only just now making threats of making decisions and doing things, but there doesn't seem to be any alternative from the republicans Just when the world needs a leader, there appears to be none For all Bushes faults, at least the guy had the balls to make a decision and stand by it.
14. Disgraceful having to pay for a newspaper online.
15. John Barrowman has to be one of the most irritating people on UK tv. Don't care what his sexuality is, (although he does make it overly obvious where his sexual orientations lie, not that it makes any difference), but imo he comes across as being so fake. I remember when Torchwood came on, Barrowman was on pretty much every other show produced by the BBC. It was like when Little Britain was popular for a while, everything was about Lucas and Walliams. He is irritating to the max.
16.
I haven't used it for over a year, but I used to keep the services in Windows on manual and keep them off unless I was using it. I found if I connected in Firefox, then switched to Chrome to watch things that avoided the pop ups but I can't remember why...
Obviously you weren't getting the live sex thingys then :)
17. I can't see where I have put "salon's". I'm not finished on the site yet, I started, but have not completed it. Kids and holidays are really stopping me getting anything done. It's breaking my heart selling for this price. It's what I paid before doing any work to it. But it is what it is, I just want out and to start again. Life's a bitch sometimes.
18. I've never received a notification of posts.
19. I'm pretty sure it's the tenant's responsibility to pay while he is living there, if it's empty, then I can't imagine there being a tax to pay seeing as no one is living there. I'll cross that bridge as and when. But for any person who is buying it, that tax will become their concern.
20.
Haven't read all this thread so this may have been said before but but what leapt out at me is (1) are you sure about saying 'taxe d'habitation depends on your income', this is simply not true for second home owners, (2) p-l-ease, 'One of its assets IS' not 'one of its assets ARE'. Too many words, too few headings to help you skip through all the text, too personal, sorry didn't do it for me.
1. When I lived there, tax d'habitation was dependent on my income I believe. And now, it's the only home I own, so I am not a second home owner. Besides it will depend on whether the new owner uses this as a second home or first home, doesn't it? 2. As for the rest, oops on the grammar error, obviously slipped through as I am a grammar nazi and it seems you agree with most others regarding the amount of text. Your grammar and spelling are a little amiss also, but as it's only a forum, I forgive you ;) Am planning on fixing it up tomorrow I hope. Didn't sleep much this weekend thanks to the hurricane. @ Renaud I have a floor plan in the brochure, but I haven't got the measurements unfortunately. I'll have to look at some English agents sites to see how they do it, that's a good idea.
21. All ok here. Basement flooded again, but am pumping that out now. Wasn't as bad as feared, worst were the tornados created by the hurricane and not knowing where they were. We lost power for about 10 minutes and that was about it really.
22. I'm in South Jersey, about an hour inland from Atlantic City. Just rain so far and a bit of wind (excuse me). Who was the pm for? I didn't get one.
