1. At least that woolly one is predictable. It must be difficult having to pretend to be a remain supporter when being BJ and the Conservative’s greatest fan. He must obviously be reading different news updates to me if he really believes that the EU standing up to their basic principles and pointing out to an insignificant nation leaving one of the World’s largest trading blocks that it cannot be given a trading position with individual members of the EU than those members have with each other. The fact that they keep on harping on about wanting a Canadian style deal an£ don’t understand that they are not in the same position as Canada. Literally not in the same position, the 20 odd miles of water between a Kent and France is slightly less of a physical barrier than the thousands of miles of Atlantic Ocean between North America and the EU. I know who I would tell to F*** Off.
2. How wide is the right of way shown on the cadastral plan? She surely got permission to build the pool house so I would suggest that she has a word with someone who was involved in the planning application to check on the 4m claim and if it’s for real ask why permission was granted.
3. Does anybody know what’s going to happen to any British citizens who have become German nationals and have dual nationality? Germany only allows citizens to have dual nationality if the other nationality is an EU nation so will dual British/German be asked to choose?
4. Great reply Wooly. I thought you would at least have pointed out that none of the points in the previous Post mattered because you love Boris.
5. A memory from my childhood when travelling through the south of France on the way to Italy was a cafe offering Toast Warm Dogs. I’ve been put off English language menus since a restaurant in Les Sables d’Olonne offered me bivalves in a white wine sauce when I wanted Moulés Marinière.
6. Did you believe that you had closed the faulty stop-cock to prevent the leak from your washing machine? If you thought that you had taken every precaution to prevent the water leak that’s one thing but if coincidentally there was a non leaking stop-cock fault at the same time as your machine was shedding water I can’t see how that would affect the outcome.
7. As a French resident you have one month to register your car. If you return to England to become resident in theory you are not allowed to drive your French registered car out of the docks without getting it U.K. registered. You become resident the moment you arrive in Britain and British residents are not allowed to drive foreign registered vehicles unless they fit one of the exceptions. Moving to England is not an exception.
8.
Lots of conjecture going on here, We've had our house in France for 16 years so are well aware of French bureaucracy. As for living in France, until we get our application for residency sorted which can't be done until after October, no way am I going to inform the UK that I am a French resident, why would I, until I am officially? So also " one of those who show themselves as living in France but do not" What's that all about? ??
With all the unknowns of Brexit I would have told everyone that I was resident in France from the first possible moment. I certainly wouldn’t have waited until I applied for a CdS.
9. Where taxes, especially property taxes are concerned I’m better off in France by a country mile. (or should that be kilometre?)
10.
As always it's the poor that will pay the most - the rich remain rich because they can pay the ones that have made the rules who also know how to get round the rules. It's us at the bottom that will hurt the most. As for differences between UK and France - I think a lot would depend on where one lives in France - and where one lives in the UK. South of France, warmer climate, lower heating bills - would have to be compared with south coast of UK. Much further north in France, cold winters - heating bills comparable to north of England or southern Scotland perhaps - or even lovely, wet Wales. Here in France live in a rural area you need two cars - so there's double the cost of insurance and CT. Live in a large village or town in the UK and there's taxis, buses, trains - no need to even own a car..... We, as pensioners are feeling the pinch a bit; I've kept some supermarket receipts from 12 years ago - and food bill has definitely increased quite a bit, even though it's for more or less the same items every large supermarket shop. Cost of electricity - ouch. Cost of car insurance - double ouch. Tax d' hab - less than UK council tax (for comparable size house) Tax - I think France wins on this, a bit, at least for our circumstances - but you would have to really do a spread-sheet to work out your own tax hit. But then I look out the windows - and see green fields, beautiful trees, sometimes deer in the next fields, and rabbits; I can hear nightingales - in spring - all around the house; owls hooting away (beautiful sounds) during the day - yes they do, and at night. Wonderful butterflies on the buddleia bushes; a couple of bats summer roosting in the garage; the busy little geckos darting everywhere, listening to the frogs croaking away through the day and night in spring..... And I can enjoy my swimming pool, and a large garden, and a shed to sit in and enjoy the peace and quiet (well, except for the big boys toys driving up and down the fields). We'd need far more money than we'll ever have to find similar location in UK, - so in those terms I feel rich living in France - even though we're as poor as church mice compared to many of our friends..... Case of 'pays your money....' Chessie
I’m sure that you will find that the climate on the north coast of France is pretty similar to that on the south coast of England. They really are quite close to each other.
11.
Alittle ? - Jeepers - what a very nasty, offensive little post. You vulgar little person. How about the Fillons then - potential French PM, and like all the enarcs on the fiddle. Like Chirac and the others. Can't wait to see what surfaces about Macron and his mum once he leaves office........ You need to get your facts right too before shouting your mouth off. That plane, with the lovely UK flag on it - will be used by many in the government, and probaby Royal Family as well. It's returned to normal flying duties so isn't sitting in a hanger anywhere. And I'd much rather the UK had my VAT money than the eu - see all the money spent by the eu elites on their gravy train standard of living - private jets included. Can't help feeling someone's not enjoying their sad little life at the moment - aw diddums diddums diddums.
What a bizarre post. Has something wound you up? I’m glad that a few people thing that spending lots and lots of money tarting up an aeroplane and making it unfit for it’s primary purpose is a good thing. I think it’s an awful waste of money when millions o& people are feeling the pinch. As I have chosen to live in France I would much rather pay my taxes here. ALBF is correct about that.
12. The Charente has changed a lot of its roads back to 90 too. I miss the Autobahns. It was so nice being able to drive at the speed that suited the car, driver and the road conditions without having to waste so much concentration checking that you weren’t accidentally exceeding a prescribed limit.
13. I’m not a great fan of organised sport but I can’t see how I’ve been subjected to unwanted coverage during the lockdown. Where is all this pandering to sports fans going on so that it impacts onto your life so much?
14. Your views are crystal clear. Just to the left of Mr Farrage.

17. Quite simply because you made the broad statement that Britons would be free to enter the EU. That is not the case. I certainly wouldn’t be booking any tickets to France before the French government makes its final decision on which borders will be opened and who will be allowed over them. Personally I would take more notice of what the Dutch government has said than what the British government says as well.
18. You make it sound so simple. So far Cyprus and the Netherlands have stated that they will not be opening their borders to travellers from the U.K.
19. I still do have a landline and VOIP calls but cancelling it and relying on my mobile phone would make very little difference to my calls to the U.K. All my friends and family call me via Messenger, FaceTime or WhatsApp so that leaves very occasional phone calls to my U.K. bank and a once a year call to an insurance company. The cost of those calls is insignificant. I holding out to try fibre before changing to a 4G system for everything as the cables are already in my commune so, hopefully, should reach me before too long. I’ve used Orange since I moved to France full time and found them very good but when the house was a second home I relied on my mobile phone for all calls and internet use. I have a Bouygues mobile phone because that was the signal my foreign mobile phone always connected to in this area.
20. NickP seems to have his blinkers riveted on as well.
21.
Winston was not much regarded to start with. Give Boris time to make mistakes.
You really are unbelievable. How much leeway are you going to allow the incapable fool to make before even you realise that he is way, way out of his depth. I admire your faith, you would make a good dog.
22. Why are Bitcoin any different to pounds, dollars or yen? If you want to buy a house in France just convert your Bitcoin into euros and job done.
23. Sorry your petty comments do nothing to improve the situation. A totally confusing post was posted and it needed correcting. Nothing wrong with me, the arse with the problems posted the fake facts. His response is almost equally bizarre, he now claims that the deal he claimed was still in the future has already been made. Give him a clap, a bit late, now all he needs to learn that the first deal was the one that is relevant residence cards, not the future result of the trade deal.
24. Don’t forget, until the end of the transition period British nationals and Americans are treated very differently. What applies to you is not relevant to us.
