  1. Don't know if it makes any difference to you but the course at Vire is only 9 holes and the facillities are limited........but it's very nice.
  2. Hi There, A friend has asked me to post the following query as he is unable to get onto the internet: He has an account with a French ISP and has just moved house in France. He has just got around to connecting his PC again, after a couple of months, and has been unable to re-establish a connection to the internet using his current ISP. Is the fact that he has a new telephone number, other than the original he established the account with, affecting him being able to connect. The error message he keeps getting is along the lines of password etc not recognised on this domain. Has anyone any thoughts or able to offer a solution? Sorry if its a bit vague but I'm posting this 3rd hand. Thanks in anticipation, Skrumpy
  3. Our neighbour has just won, for the second year running, the prize for the best garden in the Canton; it is an absolute mass of flowers and colour with perfectly manicured lawns and hedges. He is a retired dairy farmer and spends most of the hours of daylight doing something or other with his garden - it realy is a sight to behold. Likewise, his vegetable plots are immaculate. I wouldn't mind betting he even wipes the chickens feet before allowing them to tread his hallowed turf. He is definately a "gardener"......and a lovely man who makes delicious cidre to boot! (hic!)
  4. I am planning to return to the UK for 1 day in August and have booked as a foot passenger on the P&O Fast Service from Caen. Does anyone know what the parking situation is like at the Ferry Terminal since they've introduced the fast service; i.e. am I likely to have problems finding a space to leave my car overnight? It has never been a problem before but with this new service I thought it wise to ask. Thanks, in anticipation.
  5. And what is wrong with owning a briefcase.....?
  6. Hi There, Just had to pull up and destroy 40 odd cabbage and cauliflower plants infected with the dreaded Cabbage Root Fly - does anybody know of an organic solution to prevent further attacks? I'm not keen on pesticides but will use them if all else fails. Thanks, Skrumpy
  7. Looks like this one has stumped the "experts" - luckily my farmer neighbour was able to ID said beastie. No need to panic Captain Mannering. Skrumps
  8. While strimming around an old stone wall yesterday I disturbed a large stone; whilst putting it back I noticed a small snake slithering around. It was about 5 inches long, the thickness of a pencil, black on one side and caramel brown on the other, there were clearly eyes on its head and the typical little forked tongue (not a UK Politician!). It was not a slow worm. Anyone have any ideas as to what it might be? We live in 50. Daren't mention it to 'er indoors or I'll never get her outside again! Thanks, Skrumps
  9. We are currently going through the process of changing UK Driving Licences for French; the Sous Prefecture in St Lo has insisted on a Carte de Sejour despite being shown a copy of the actual change to French Law saying they are no longer required for EU citizens. British Passports were not an acceptable substitute; so its off to get a CdS then!
