1. Coops you need to re-read my post - I was talking about what you've written and your views. I genuinely find them very sad and upsetting and simply cannot understand or agree with the 'links' you have made. No need to internalise things and take things so personally .....we're talking about the 2012 Olympics here!!! Chiefluvvie
2. Coops - I can't respond to your previous posts because I find them so utterly sad and bereft of some basic human instincts and feelings - in fact I find them quite depressing. powerdesal - you got it! Chiefluvvie
3. Astonishing! In all my travels I have never heard of the BBC being referred to as the ''Biased Broadcasting Corporation''. The BBC should most definitely be biased towards the UK and specifically it's athletes!! In fact I find it extremely refreshing and liberating when BBC sports commentators show unbridled support and passion for home competitors. In fact, lack of bias over many years can quite clearly be blamed when it comes to the apathetic attitude of most UK residents when it comes to nationalism and loss of identity. The BBC coverage of the Olympics has been nothing short of stunning - as have the Olympics themselves. The press and general media must be desperately disappointed and are still scratching around for any negative stories they can get their grubby little hands on! Shame on them. As an aside - I sincerely hope all the lame tube and bus drivers in London are asked to repay their completely unwarranted bonuses - negotiated via blackmail. Apparently central London has been deserted - wonderful. Chiefluvvie
4. Yep - another vote from me for PKF Guernsey - great regular updates as well! Chiefluvvie
5. Hi - I'd recommend Blevins Franks for international financial, tax and employment advice. May not be for everyone but worth every cent for us! You need the international expertise - something most regular accountants / tax advisors simply don't have. It's important to remember that there are certain things you can put in place BEFORE becoming a non-UK resident that you simply cannot do afterwards - specifically related to trusts, inheritance / succession. Just google them. It's all do-able! Best of luck... Chiefluvvie
6. So funny Debra, them bringing back the now heavily cropped Ryanair thread. Here's a copy of the 'telling-off' that accompanies its return (to save people looking at that other forum!): 'This thread has now been heavily pruned of rude and insulting comment, please let's not repeat such behaviour Regards Nigel' It would be sad if it wasn't so funny! Chiefluvvie
7. Orange / France Telecom are the same company! Historically I found them pretty useless so switched to SFR - brilliant and no problems with their Neufbox Evolution (Internet, Phone and TV). Chiefluvvie
8. Not that I want anyone to look at that other pomhorm forum but....he's recently posted an update on the 'English / French cooperation on drones'....... As a flyer myself, the information has been ....now what's the word ? Anyway - had me on the edge of my seat..... Chiefluvvie
9. Ditto debra - I took him to task a couple of months ago about info relating to how to declare UK salaries in France - something I've done for many years. The info he gave out was simply wrong and, if followed, would have resulted in disaster. So dangerous..... Anyway - I had him down as being a lot shorter - bit like the Wizard of Oz! Chiefluvvie
10. Not sure....my guess is he's (?) employed by Google to promote their on-line translation service.... Chiefluvvie
11. Look guys - don't knock them too much. After all, they are the place to go if you're looking for Birds custard, recipes for crumpets and what to serve to French guests at apero time. These things are important........ Then of course there's that rather peculiar 'pomhorn' - his command of English reminds me of the airman in Allo Allo - the other way round of course! Chiefluvvie
12. You know what Debra - I don't think anyone has 'told me off' quite like MrsW since I was at school. Even then I think I got away with using the word 'rubbish' when it was warranted! Must have been pretty serious though as I see they have deleted the entire Ryanair thread! Paranoia if you ask me..... Anyway - I do love a good giggle :-) Chiefluvvie
13.
Chiefluvvie I'm distraught at the treatment you have received even though I don't agree with some of your postings. If you feel in need of counselling I can recommend a friend who lives in the Averyon or another located near to St Malo. They'll quickly sort you out.  [6]
Benjamin - I appreciate your concern but don't worry, I've taken a Doliprane and should be fine...... Chiefluvvie
14. Quillan - I'm sure you're right. I tend to catch up on my forum activities during my days off or on some of the more boring days down route! Maybe the ad-hoc nature of my visits affects continuity in some way and I miss the point? Who knows? I do know one thing though...on the 'rose tinted' forum there seems to be an endemic reticence to accept factual information if it doesn't 'fit'. The truth must not be allowed to interfere with the general perceptions and views of those wearing the glasses! aka La La Land...... Chiefluvvie (not that I'm bitter and twisted....)
15. Sue I think you've hit the nail on the head! I know I can be 'controversial' but being kicked out for being anti-French is quite bizzare. On 'that-other-forum' , many of the regular ex-pat posters spend quite a lot of their time criticising the UK. However, when I criticise my own country it's not acceptable. I did use the word 'rubbish' towards a poster the other day - maybe that just pushed the mods over the edge :-) Rose-tinted definitely and almost sinister if you ask me..... Chiefluvvie
16. Me too !!!!- Just been excommunicated - copy of my P45 follows: You were so right a few weeks ago, this forum is not right for you! Whilst a few of your posts were constructive the majority were not and being anti all things French, may not be an ideal stance on a Francophile forum. Goodbye. As you can imagine - I'm reeling from the shock and utter disappointment :-) I wouldn't mind but I'm half French with dual nationality.... Chiefluvvie
17.
Now this will probably sound stupid but I'm going to ask it anyway, is there an online booking/management system that the client can pay online with instantly and the comapny transfers the money to your bank account without the need for a credit card terminal?
Emmm yes - already posted above - www.avialcheck.com - just incorporate an appropriate (B&B, Gites, Hotel etc) booking engine into your website and link to your Paypal account - dead simple. Chiefluvvie
18. That's entirely your decision Wilko but I'm afraid you'll be left behind in the rush to 'click and book' - makes no difference if you're offering B&B or Gites - people just want simplicity in their busy lives. Just look at Booking.com, Holiday Lettings, Tripadvisor, Lastminute.com, Hotels.com etc etc etc Go on - give it a try! After all it's 2012.... The customer will decide.... Chiefluvvie
19. Yep - very easy - been using Availcheck on our website for 3 years now - easy to incorporate using simple HTML code and links directly to your Paypal account. Handles deposits and full payments. I've upgraded to their Pebble booking system admin system which is superb - and very cheap! As you can tell I'm a convert..... Chiefluvvie
20. Because it makes it EASY for people to check availability, BOOK and PAY! Use these guys - excellent: http://www.availcheck.com/ Chiefluvvie
21. It's a funny thing - fear of flying. However illogical, it's very personal and very real for those who are scared - normally of crashing, not flying I hasten to add! I genuinely feel terribly sorry for those who never manage to get over the fear - they miss out on a wonderful life experience. As a 777 First Officer I've come across a few in my time but can normally help to talk them round. It's been a bit more difficult since our cockpit doors have been firmly bolted post 9/11 - which is a shame. Personally I hate coaches, ferries and trains - miserable and much more dangerous than flying! Chiefluvvie
22. Oh crikey - just fly, cheaper and quicker! Chiefluvvie
23. Easyjet are doing Gatwick - Toulouse during early September for around £77 return inc taxes and luggage - not bad :-) Chiefluvvie
24. Sure - on top of any notary fees, compulsory newspaper ads etc - there is a dissolution tax which is calculated as a percentage of the current value of any property/ies in your SCI portfolio - less deductions for any significant work / costs associated with them. Hang on to those receipts!! Your notaire will advise. Chiefluvvie
25. Hi Ian - I do have experience of this. You can only offset expenses incurred on the properties held within your SCI portfolio - quite obviously your UK property would not fall into this category. So - your accountant is correct but for the wrong reason. Are you absolutely sure forming an SCI is the best way for you to go? They can be very complex structures with comprehensive annual returns required and income can be subject to French income tax, corporation tax and social charges for starters! When and if you come to dissolve your SCI - the charges are huge. I would strongly advise you to seek professional advice from a French based accountant familiar with SCI's. Chiefluvvie
