1.
easiest way is open PC registry and delete all avast keys... start, run, regedit. expand the folders look for software directories and delete all instances of avast. this the heart of your pc, DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING ELSE !
Could be dangerous if the OP doesn't know how to fix a broken registry !
2. Just a thought, have you considered one of the Linux distributions to replace your windows system, or to run alongside ? No need for any anti-virus programs but they are available if you have other windows computers in your home network. If you dont do a lot of game playing then it could be a good option. You can download and burn a linux distribution to a CD or usb stick and try it as a "live" system to see if you like it. Here is a link to one distribution that is very similar to windows so you may feel more comfortable - www.linuxmint.com I am also near the Dordogne/Charente border so could help if you need it.
3. Just to finish the subject, I contacted the Homeplug Powerline alliance on their webpage and actually received an answer. No Bewan products are certified even though it was marked on the box - naughty Bewan. This is not the first time I have had a problem with Bewan products so take note !
4. Thanks for that although the Homeplug Alliance would have you believe otherwise ! Also from Wikipedia Interoperability Products are tested for interoperability and certified based on the HomePlug specification and the IEEE 1901 powerline standard. Devices marked with the HomePlug certification mark will interoperate with each other, but not with devices that employ other powerline technologies such as UPA (silicon vendor DS2) or HD-PLC (silicon vendor Panasonic), which are found primarily in Japan. HomePlug 1.0 devices do not interoperate with HomePlug AV devices. Although it is technically possible to achieve backward compatibility, this is not economically feasible because of the high cost of circuitry that would have to support different Forward error correction (FEC) techniques and feature sets. [10] Similarly, HomePlug (1.0, Turbo, GP, AV, AV2) devices will not interoperate with products based on the G.hn standard (for power lines, phone lines and coaxial cables) developed by ITU-T because it was deemed prohibitively expensive to implement both HomePlug's turbo coding forward error correction and the low density parity check (LDPC) proposed for G.hn.[11]
5. Hi any techy gurus out there ? I purchased a pair of CPL - current porteur line - a few months ago to extend the internet in our property as the thick stone walls are not wi-fi friendly. They work fine. I recently bought another 2 CPL's but another brand to have greater flexibility, however these CPL's would not "talk" to the existing CPL's even though it said on the box that they were using the same standards. They would "talk" to each other - same brand. Is it therefore necessary in order to extend the range of CPL's I have to purchase from the same manufacturer. For info the first were "Devolu" brand and the second were "Bewan"
6. It was a furnished let. I would love to put it all behind and move on but I hate to think of someone getting away with something like this. Quote " Don't get angry, get even"
7. Thankyou danny our posts crossed. The tenant moved in Sept 1 for a supposedly 6 month rent and paid the first months rent and also a cheque for a months rent to be held as guarantee. Three months later after the heated pool was closed for the winter period (unconnected ?) the locataire said she was leaving in 3 weeks and would only pay for that period. We demanded at least a full months rent which she paid but announced that she had cancelled the guarantee cheque. In order to confirm this we deposited the cheque with our bank and sure enough it was rejected, the reason being that the cheque was "lost". This is why we are taking efforts to recover the cheques value.
8.
Without an 'Etat des Lieu' on entry I cannot see that you have any grounds for recovery against the renter. We complete one even for a one week letting. Mrs R51
Actually by reading the info on the Anil site I discovered that - and I translate - "If by negligence of the proprietor and the locataire no etat des lieux was made at the start of the location period then the locataire is presumed to have received the property in good order". So it would appear that we have a chance.
9. Thankyou Clair that site was usefull. Unfortunately no etat was carried out on entry of our locataire - stupid of us I know - and the locataire has cancelled the depot de garantie cheque - illegally - so we are starting litigation. The locataire only communicates with us via lettre recomande even though the property is across the courtyard ! Never again, you live and learn that people cannot be trusted unfortunately.
10. Just a quick question regarding the end of a rental period and the "etat des lieu" - the state of the place - If the owner of the property and the renter conduct an "etat des lieu" at the end of the rental term can one or both refuse to sign ? What recourse do you have as an owner if the "renter" refuses to sign ?
11. Only just seen this subject. It was mentioned briefly but one of the Linux OS'es about would be a good alternative. I have heard that some people have been successful in getting money back from Microsoft for the Windows licence on new PC's/laptops if they do not activate and install Linux instead. I havent tried this but have been running Linux for about 4 years with no issues on all my PC's and laptops in my home. Only my son has windows for games. Oh yes, and no virus problems - Radio 4 this morning - Make the switch and be more secure.
12. Yesterday I received an "Avis Amiable" supposedly from RSI in Niort saying I owed an amount of money for the 3eme trimestre cotisations for 2010. What made me suspicious was that the letter was in grey and black whereas normally the communications from RSI are in blue print. Also the number for communicating with RSI in Niort was different. I spoke to RSI in Niort who assured me my cotisations were up to date and that they had no knowledge of the communication. So all auto-entrepreneurs be aware there is a scam going on, check with your RSI branch at the usual number before getting ripped off.
13. I am sure that we all have at sometime admired the French panache at roundabouts and the speed at which they have adopted these over the past few years, but there is one type that I havent seen before today. A square roundabout. Its in the Angouleme suburb of Soyaux - only in France LOL
14. Hi Will, The booklet points to a part of the site www.impots.gouv.fr and follows the following tabs Professionnels>Vos preoccupations>Creation d'Activity. I have had a brief look and can find no reference to TVA and "herbergement avec prestations" so I guess the system has changed since the publication of the booklet in 2009. Something else for the recycle bin. PS The title of the brochure is "loueurs en meuble non professionnels" and I picked it up from the local tax office a while back.
15. OH dear, one exclamation mark and you have a wobbly - get a LIFE - yes I know "capitals".
16.
Do you have a source for that 'understanding'? It certainly goes against the experience of many people (us included) that tax from a B&B business is taxable under a micro regime - as long as it comes under the statutory turnover limit - and thus is specifically excluded from TVA. The 23% figure mentioned in the original question includes tax (at 1.7%) as well as cotisations at 21.3%, which applies to a service industry (i.e. 'prestations de service') under the BIC regime. My understanding is that several people have claimed the lower rate for gites and B&B, under 'ventes de marchandises (BIC)', which is 12% (13% with tax included). Note that these rates apply to turnover, not profit, so no other costs can be offset. If you have a large number of properties that you are renting out then you may well do better to go for a 'réel' regime where you can offset all your allowable costs and expenses and benefit from charging and recovering TVA, You can opt for payment of tax with your monthy or quarterly declaration under the autoentrepreneur/micro social regime as above. However, if your income is low so you are not actually liable to pay income tax in France it is pointless opting to pay it; and if your income is above a certain level you cannot pay this way, you have to add the income to your normal tax return. Source
As regards the TVA the "understanding" comes from a booklet, in French, from the French Tax authorities - Ref GP 178 dated March 2009 - page 9 to be precise !
17. Although not involved with B&B business I have been involved in the gite letting business for a number of years and my understanding is that if you offer food - ie. B&B - then you have to register for TVA. That could open up a whole bag of worms !
18. I would not think so; it disappeared in 2010 and things like that tend to stay "disappeared"
