  1. Or this one http://rt.com/usa/news/advertisements-geller-america-york-609/ What an unpleasant woman she is.
  2. Seem to cost an arm and a leg in France or are we looking in the wrong places? Silent night, morphy richards etc all names I know and trust are available on amazon UK but I'd need to change the plugs. is that my best bet?
  3. Right thanks everyone. My retirement age is still quite a few years away so no dire rush to get this sorted but something I have started to give some thought to. I was thinking of topping up my UK contributions as I will have less years to top up than with a French pension. It still makes financial sense afaik to go that route unless I am missing something really vital eg the fact that I had no idea that when the time is right I would have to claim through France for my pension. Thank you Norman for your kind offer to help
  4. I agree that we have a right to free speech but not to deliberately hurt or provoke people, a robust exchange of ideas is one thing but to keep poking people with sharp stick is another. It is only in recent years afaik that there has been these deliberate attempts to upset and offend Muslims which has been wrapped up in the dressing of freedom of speech. It is obvious that the majority of Muslims (if offended at all) are not going on murderous rampages, but to many the reaction is evidence that Islam is barbaric etc etc. So I have to ask what purpose is being served by the actions of the cartoonists filmakers and what is their agenda?
  5. I have requested a UK pension forecast and take it from there. There are too many French trimestres to make up even if I could afford it,so I will focus of the UK one and view whatever I may get from France as a bonus.
  6. The Daily Mail ( who aren't adversed to publishing grainy long distance shots of celebs or needless stories about people who clearly don't seem very well eg Emily Lloyd http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2188193/Emily-Lloyd-Wish-You-Were-Here-star-looks-scruffy-unkempt-20-years-on.html ) have 10 separate articles at least on their website relating to this story, so whilst they may be feigning outrage, they must be rubbing their hands together in glee in their offices.
  7. Just what I was looking for, I'm going to sort out my payslips and hopefully I'll be able to navigate my way around it. But I will come back to you if I have problem, cheers.
  8. Is there any information anywhere that can help me work out my own French pension forecast based on the number of trimestres I will have worked ? I won't have the 164 required for a full pension from France or the UK.
  9. I do have more sympathy for Kate than I did for Harry, but she is very much the public eye and there will always be people willing to try and make a buck. Either develop a thicker skin, or take more care. The media does invade ordinary peoples privacy every day. The trashy newspapers frequently show pictures with 'warning graphic content', of dead or injured people but because they tend to be of people from far off places, no one seems to mind. I find that a lot more offensive than a pair of pixellated titties.
  10. The British media seem sure that the British family was the intended target and the cyclist ( the 'witness' who was shot 5times) was killed because of what he saw. The French police have suggested that it could have been the other way round. Tragic for all the victims, but at least the police seem to be examining all possibilities.
  11. "Deb gave great advice, argued for respect and shared her opinions with balance, sensitivity and humour, even when she disagreed." + 1
  12. Our thoughts are with you both. Cannot add anymore to that which has been said already. Mr and Mrs G
  13. We changed our internet subscription with Orange to a different one still with Orange and took advantage of their offer. http://media.abonnez-vous.orange.fr/medias/pdf/odr/ODR-Devices-xbox-pc-23-08-12.pdf
  14. I have signed up to Currency fair this week as on a relatively small amount I will receive 50€ more than with my usual broker and the fee is cheaper.
  15. If you are an orange internet customer, you can click on the icon and the code will be emailed to you . At the present they are running this offer for the period 3 to 7 septembre and not just the tuesday.
  16. Mrs G is going to keep it and try and lose a bit more weight.....
  17. I have been unable to get the home option to work, it asks me to choose a point relais so I don't think that will be an option. Thanks all the same .I will see if I can send it directly back to the uk through parcels please as that will work out cheaper though not cheap!
  18. I have to return an item to M and S Fr and they box that they sent it in is massive. Any ideas of courier companies that I could use that aren't too pricey ?
  19. Try sosh.fr sms illimites in France and Europe 2 wifi and 2go internet for 19,90 euro a month
  20. I wouldn't want to see a President Blair either, but why would abolishing the monarchy automatically mean that it would create a power vacuum that must be filled? No reason why the UK couldn't plod on with a PM, works well enough in Australia. ( I know that Liz is Queen down under too but they don't see a great deal of her)
  21. I imagine that if this had been wayne Rooney or reality show celeb the public would not have been so charitable in their comments . Yet if this had been someone else there could be a lot more valid excuses made to try and justify that kind of behaviour. Imo I think that the celeb culture rife in the UK has made an impact on people whether they like it or not and on those that think that they haven't been affected or influenced by it and consequently Harry's behaviour far from receiving the condemnation that it would have if it had happened 20 or 30 years ago , is accepted as perfectly normal and acceptable behaviour for a senior Royal to exhibit.
  22. I haven't felt the need to run round in the nip in company since I was about 2. Having fun is one thing, though with the minimal army duties that Harry performs I doubt he needs to let off much steam :) He is 27 not 17 and staying in a 5000 quid a night hotel with police protection paid for by the taxpayer. If the strains of being a Royal and behaving in an appropriate manner outweigh the benefits, then he should retire. Does Britain want need or deserve another airmiles Andy in the making?
  23. Another knee jerk response from that idiot that is IDS! The areas in France that are suffering from a heatwave at present are often the coldest in winter.
  24. Will be stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles and has decided not to proceed further with any legal action against the USADA. Of course this is not an admission of guilt but rather that he is "finished with this nonsense". EDIT Will this mean that Jan Ullrich is elavated to great rider status by now having his second places behind Armstrong converted to wins or will that create another headache for the anti doping agencies ?
  25. I must be getting old but I am getting the impression from some quarters in the UK that the capers of this man is quite acceptable and that he is only acting like a normal 27 year old on holiday.Even the Palace seem only to want to shoot the messenger or in this case the photographer. I'm not a royalist but as he is 3rd in line to the throne and only recently represented the Queen at the Olympic closing ceremony, not forgetting that he is also spends some of his time in the British army, shouldn't he really have exercised a lot more sense?
