  1. I, also, am the proud owner of an Everhot. My husband was going to buy a new (secondhand) car this year but gallantly put it on hold, probably for ever, so that we could buy the middle sized one. I love it to bits and the performance is fantastic. Never had an Aga but I would not swop my Everhot for one.
  2. OK. Will give PointP a go and see what response I get. What I really need is a magic wand so that a quick wave and everything indoors will be finished. The restauration has been going on too long and now that the weather is kind the potager demands attention not the house! Will I ever live in comfort in our very beloved old house
  3. I think I will discount the Lafarge plasterboard but will try PointP in La Flèche as they have always been helpful in the past. I had thought they had closed completely in  La Flèche but now find out it has moved to the other end of town. Thanks for everyone's help.
  4. I want to use 8-10mm fibreboard to fix between beams (I really wanted to use a product like Heraklith but cannot find an outlet in France) in the attic. Does anyone know where I can buy this or 6-8mm plasterboard? Any help or suggestions welcome Peter
  5. Our voting papers arrived this morning. So far so good: but no envelope B. When my husband rang the no. given on the information sheet, he was asked if we needed envelope B? Having been put through to another person she informed him that they don't send envelope B to people abroad and she thought it would have been useful if that had been included on the information sheet. So where to send it? Yes, that info would also have been useful she said.  I don't mind paying the postage  but  to return my vote I now need to go out and purchase an A5 envelope. SO I AM FED UP. I wont say what I think of the efficiency of our local district council.
  6. If you had the temperature we have in our bathroom , your stay would be about 5 minutes! As soon as we can we are replacing the bath with a shower - we have used the bath about 3 times in 7 years and now we are too old to hop in and out. Dangerous!!!!!!!! BUT my one luxury is to  have a bath when we stay in a hotel - no shower for me but a long soak, before a meal not cooked by me! In England the  only use our bath has had was by our dogs - flea shampoo - and our Swedish grandchildren who only have a shower in their 4 bedroom house. But whatever blows your skirt up - sorry that was my husband's suggestion as I couldn't think of the english phrase
  7. Our house is between Durtal and La Flèche and we had been visiting this area on holiday for years before we bought it in 2003. It has really saddened us  to lose friends from two bars and one restaurant in La Flèche; other shops have closed and friends have retired and we don't see them very often but we have never regretted our decision to choose this area. We   have made other french friends other the years and as long as your decisiondoesn't just rest on theproprietors of the  bar in Les Clefs I'm sure you will love it here.

    leeks

We always buy ours at the local market - about 5 stallholders sell them alongside their other plants. They come in 50s - last year we bought 50 autumn leeks on the 6th May @ 3.50€ and 100 winter leeks on 10th June @ 4€ per 50. Still eating them! Only a few started seeding last year and I dug up and ate them straight away.
  11. [:D]Please can it be noted that I agree with NormanH - never been able to write this before!
  12. If you want really beautiful, glazed terracotta, locally made (i.e. to our house near Durtal)  have at look at www.rairies.com. We have just bought some for our kitchen and they are lovely.
