ginnysmith
Hi,I don't get to postvery often as just had first baby and no time!!! But am looking for some help please. I received a letter from my french bank today and I don't understand a part of it. Have tried translation service, dictionary etc but no luck. It claims the tresorerie is charging me 327 euros for an 'avis a tiers detenteur'. Can anyone help with what this is please? I'm also confused why bank sending letter not the tresorerie.I own a house in Brittany but live in UK, don't rent house out or anything and have all mail sent to UK address.I apologise if this has been covered before, as I said, I don't get on here very often!! Unfortunately.ThanksGinny
Eslier
Did you forget to pay your Tax Fonciere or Tax d'Habitation at the end of last year ? They have the power to take it straight from your bank account if you don't pay.
Ron Avery
A google found this, Eslier as always is spot on.Un 'avis a tiers detenteur' is a procedure which makes it possible for the Treasor Public to take whole or part of any money held by a third party in the name of the debtor " So its likely you have not paid something due to the Tresor Public like a tax d'hab or fonciers. but you have now[:)]
