bank charge

I know I should, but I never look at my bank statements - but I did today and saw a charge "contributions sociales et autres" for 26 and a bit Euro.  Opened hubbie's statement too and he's paid same.  This isn't a usual charge as far as I remember.

Can anybody tell me what it is please?

I reckon it's CSG(Contributions Sociales Generale). The bank are deducting at source a tax on unearned income' here or' elsewhere in the world. No idea how you go about getting it cancelled as all our income is in France, and we pay on on our annual declaration. Hopefully, someone with a UK pension or investment income, will come along and explain what you should do to cancel this deduction due the reciprical tax agreement.

Any other explanations from anyone?
