Hojo Posted August 3, 2004 Share Posted August 3, 2004 Hello, we have been approached by an English couple already renting another house in our village now wanting another 6 month let. We are tempted to let them rent from us over the winter. I know about making an inventory etc.. But would we fall into the 3 year contact trap or could we make a sort of 'gentlemens agreement' with our own contract? Also, what would be a fair rent? The 2 parties may have significantly different views as to the qualities of a "gentleman" so my advice would be to keep it strictly business. Fair for whom ? I tend to associate "fair" with "below market". Suggest that you check the going rate locally and start at that.
