This is my first year of having a house in St Fraimbault.

I know there is some sort of local tax due in January but we have recived nothing.

I'm worried that it has got lost on it's way to England (as our water bills did).

Can anyone from St Fraimbault or surrounding area let me know if you have recived yours yet.

Cheers

Thanks for that. Is that the case for both taxes?

We bought in July and were assked by the vendor to pay half of tax foncieres in October. It is the tax habitation that I am concerned about.

For your half you should be billed by the Notaire (not the Tresor) - you are under no obligation (other than a moral one!) to pay, unless it is specifically written into the Acte & yes, the same applies to all the taxes, of which there are more than 2!

Nick,

Am I reading your reply right ?

As far as I am aware, taxe hab is only ever legally payable by the

owner or renter as on Jan 1st. I have never seen any contract that has

asked for a pro rata on taxe hab but in most contracts, if not all now (?),

it will say that taxe fonc is payable on a pro rata basis.

Sorry chaps but you are totally confusing me now.

Tax foncieres is done and dusted until October - when I assume it will come to me.

We were the legal owners on 1st January 2006 but not 1st January 2005! Should I have had a Tax Habitation letter for this year or will it go to the previous owner?

Perhaps I should just risk my dodgy french and phone up the tax office.

You will pay these taxes in arrears, as you obviously already know by saying Tax foncieres is done and dusted until October .

So

as was stated, if you were not in residence on Jan 1st 2005, then you

will not have to pay Taxe Hab this year. You will be due for both taxe hab and

taxe Fonc for 2006, much later on this year.

So what local tax  is due in January ? Ar you talking dustbins ?

Some community charges for those, now come with Taxe Foncières. And

don't forget, your  TV licence (around 116 euros) will be payable

on your Taxe Habitation, so if you haven't got a TV or anything that

can receive TV signals, then better get your skates on and inform them,

in your dodgy French !!

Indeed you were. The Q is; was I reading the OP's question correctly?

I'll shut up now.
