The new individualism?

Just browsing Expatica, haven't looked at it for a while. Article about les colonies de vacances,

how they're less popular than they used to be, due to rising costs, fear of paedophiles, and....

This kind of stuff crops up all over the place. Paedophilia, high rates of cancer, rising crime, breakdown of society, commonplace divorce, drugs available on the streets, immigration problems, problems in the health service. It's all starting to sound a bit British, don't you think?
