Fioul ordinaire or Fioul supérieur? The only difference I can see (apart from price) is the premium fuel has an additive to stop it freezing. Our tank is protected from cold so is there any reason to buy the more expensive fuel?

Our tank is in the barn and has survived a few very cold days.  Even the day when our old tank, used for storing rainwater, froze solid into one 1500l ice cube - I think the temp was -17°C.

In your situation, the only reason I could see for buying the superior grade is if you can join a syndicate and get a rebate more than the difference in price.

Our commune does exactly that and because the purchasers have a mix of facilities from fully protected to totally out in the open, we purchase the superior grade, but at 2-3 tankers worth per order (and several orders per year) we do get a substantial rebate on the published price.

If we did have to split the delivery to superior and standard we/the supplier would lose the economies of scale.
