tristanspeed Posted March 12, 2007 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Hello - I live near Lyon and have been to the Alps and down south to Provence several times for summer holidays, but I'd really like to explore the Atlantic coast this year. Trouble is I've never been there before so I really don't know where to aim for. I'd like somewhere quietish, lots of nature, nice villages etc. I'm planning to go in early September rather than in August. I'd like to be near the sea too, and will have a baby in tow by then! Does anyone have any advice for where to start looking - or places to avoid? I don't want to go up to Brittany because I want a reasonable guarantee of decent weather, but other than that I'm open to ideas. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Great for bike rides through leafy lanes and a super place for a holiday for all the family. The people are so laid back compared to the Med. Tresco Posted March 12, 2007 Share Posted March 12, 2007 I've never made it as far as Soulac (sorry Twinks, I should have come to meet you there last year).There is a stretch of about 100 miles of wide, mostly empty beach, either direction from Soulac, with small resorts (no high rise that I have seen) lovely lakes slightly inland, pine forests to cycle through (lots of bike hire places with baby seats and even little trailers for older toddler types).It's peaceful, slow paced and charming.
