By the pond near my house is a rotten old tree it is covered in dense ivy.

On Sunday morning at about 10am my son approached the pond as two ducks had landed on it.

As he approached the pond two owls flew out of the tree, followed by another four after a few second three more flew out and finally a larger one flew out and landed in a tree close by.

Yesterday we watched from a distance and we could make out three owls through the ivy in the tree and another was sitting on our bathroom window sill.

The ones in the tree yesterday were about 300mm tall.

We were amazed during last summer when after replying to owl hoots at night five flew into the tree in our garden investigating us.

Though my most surprising and nearly fatal owl incident was when my brother and I were about ten and eleven and we climbed a rotten tree and looked into a hole at the top on lt to be met by two big beady eyes! The owl came flying out of the hole and we recoiled and managed to get down the tree without harm with our hearts racing.
