Lou
Heard and saw the first cranes this morning - always for me the first signal that winter is coming (even though we still have temps of 25 degrees during the day at the moment!)I just love the sound and sight of them. We're lucky enough to live close to the lake at Puydarrieux (Hautes-Pyrénées) where more and more of the cranes (as well as other birds) are choosing to over-winter rather than continuing on further south. The cranes become a twice-daily sight from now til March as they go back and forth to the lake and feeding in the nearby fields.Lou
Rob Roy
We live on the 'flight path' and have seen hundred at a time flying south during the last 10 days or so. We usually hear them before search the skies to find them. How lovely for you to be able to see them all winter.

Chris Luck
Lucky indeed to have them on your doorstep, nearest to me is about an hour away, two hours if I want to see thousands. Is there no way to include images or links in this forum?Chris
