wee language question

In English we too can be between between heaven and earth but also between the devil and the deep blue sea. The articles are usually indispensible but it depends on the nouns rather than the conjunction. For example a person's name never has an article. (He stood between Fred and Peter.) I can't remember all the rules but they are not dissimilar in the two languages, neither are they identical.

I'll go and check if my grammar has anything to add.
