Sour cream and chive dip

Hi all

I have people coming around tomorrow night for 'finger food' (very un-french!).

Anyway, one of the things on my menu list was crispy potatoe skins with sour cream and chive dip (also needed horse radish).

I couldn't find horse radish, or sour cream (for future reference what is it called please?).

But (!!!) I do have creme fraiche and chives - can I replace the sour cream with creme fraiche does anyone know please ?    and something to replace the horse radish ?

No time to go back to supermarket now, so any thoughts would be appreciated ...

Oh dear - I dont have any of the ingredients for making my own horseradish either !!

I will try the creme fraiche and bung some chives in - then all I have to do is to get the guests really drunk before they eat - its always worked before !

I know it is too late for your soiree (hope it goes well) but sour cream seems to be a thing of the past even in the UK, although Ant Worrel T was talking about it this morning.  When I need it I just add a little lemon juice to plain yog or creme fraiche, seems to have the same effect.
