Eating Out

While in France, we often come accross some wonderful restaurants throughout France, which are cheap, and very good!

Sometimes we do not get a choice of food, and it always includes wine in the price. They tend to be full of Frence workers, the car parks are full of vans/lorries!

I dont know if there is a way to refere to theses restaurants, but does anyone know if there is a book or website listing them?

Type www.google.com or www.google.co.uk into the address bar at the top of the screen (or use these links) and type in Les Routiers and the region you want.......

There is a book that lists them too: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Routiers-Guide-France-Guides/dp/0852239742

There is UK web site - further searching may reveal a French one http://www.routiers.co.uk/home.aspx

Edit: Christine has found it !

In our little village of Salon la Tour we can have a 5 course lunch with table wine for 11 euro and it is very good. We are staying at the Municipal Campsite in Archiac for 1 week in the Summer does anyone know of good food to be had in this area ?  We are having a look around for a suitable property in this region as the one we already have is too small for a full time move.

Thanks Higgy

You could try the following, might be too far to travel but you never know.

"Des Trois Moulins" (Routiers restaurant) on the RN between Pons and Saintes (nr. St Leger), limited choice but food is usually good, a great atmosphere. (open lunch time and evening, closed Sat p.m. and all day Sunday)

Cafe de la Paix at Jazennes.............Monday to Saturday lunchtime only, very good value.

In Gemozac:

try the Caravelle near the stade

La Roze on the Gemozac to Pons road. Slightly more up-market, pleasant service and set lunches are great value. Open in the evenings too.

Enjoy [:)][:)][:)]

Edit:

I've just thought of another one in Pons (lunchtimes only I think and not Sunday) opposite the St Vivien church.
Sorry Higgy - Blanche Neige had posting problems and in deleting the duplicate posts one of yours went too (a 'feature' of this software) . That was the one that gave your location.
I've managed to recover it and stick it back into place! [:)]
