Thebiga
Hi I have a bunch of mates coming over for the Moto GP at 'Le Mans' and they were thinking about if they need a Hi Viz vest like you do with the cars to be legal or not.I didn't think you did but I'm sure someone knows.Cheers. Bob T
No you don't need them.Hi vis vests, warning triangles, spare tyres etc are only needed by cars and not bikes. You do need to ride with lights on all the time though.
Thebiga
Thanks for that. I would always have my lights on anyway but on my new bike they are on all the time.
Bugsy
As Bob has said, they are not a legal requirement for 'motos'. That said I always carry one in my panniers..
BIG MAC
I always have a couple under the seat along with bulbs and tools. Have you seen how dark French provincial roads are at night?
Brilec
I have heard that this lack of requirement for bikes is to change shortly, anyone know more?

Bugsy
Lots of changes coming http://www.lemonde.fr/societe/article/2011/05/11/securite-routiere-les-principales-mesures-du-gouvernement_1520389_3224.htmlSome good, some pretty stupid.Check out some of the comments, there is a lot of anger about this.. sid
Hmm! I had read about the speed control changes, removing the warning signs and increased penalties, but hadn't seen the reflective vest proposals. I hope I don't have to wear a flappy vest; it'll be more of a hazard than a help! Thanks for the link, Bugsy. As you say a lot of anger, but as usual opinion is divided. A lot of people just don't like motorcycles (or the riders!) full stop!Enjoy it while you can I say.
