I am making my staicase, balustrade, doors, doorframes & skirting from local timber.  We bought 2nd grade kiln dries oak from a sawmill in the Mervent at 730 Euros for 0,75m3, I thought this was a reasonable deal. The planks are on average 2800x700x70 and I have now resawn some planks to about 30mm & some to under 20mm. Here are some pics of half the timber (had to make 2 trips to the sawmill as the trailer wasn't up to carrying the whole lot in one go). I also had to cut the planks down to just over 250mm wide 'cause Mrs Postie isn't up to carrying such big planks [Www] & my thicknesser only takes up to 250mm.
