Mosaics

Recommended Posts

Tony a friend of mine makes the most beutiful mosics and never pays a penny for her materials, but spends a lot of time in skips( for used tiles pieces of glass ect) and hunting the shore line for worn glass bits small pebbles, some times we find bits in old junk shops like old coins old tins toys, marbles, beads, ect. it is fasinating to watch her turn these bits of rubbish into beutiful pieces of art. So just look around you and see what treasures you may already have hanging around in the garden and shed and the countryside.

Hope we get a preview of your first one on here[:)]

Maggy Howarth has also produced an inspiring book, The art of Pebble mosaics. Looking through  it I read this note of caution.

(Concerning knotwork) 'Look for simple ones: however gorgeous the examples you find, most will be too complicated to make unless the work is on a very large scale'

As a result of this thread, I've spent this afternoon finishing a mosaic that I started over a year ago. Thankyou Tony.
