Hi' I planted some out last year around the Easter period which even I felt was early. My French neighbour nodded her head in disapproval. I did plant them by the house and pretty protected. They survived and are now in my conservatory in Kent preparing to go out again to France this year. I am not really recommending you do the same. If you can do it later all the better but ensure they are in a very sheltered spot and they will stand some chance if the weather turns frosty.

From experience not until after 15th May; but even then they may need watching ie covering with fleece or taking in until after the 1st June. I can't remember ever having a frost in June but can right up until the mid month full moon in May between 12th to 15th and boy was it a hard one.
