Thewards
We have just returned from our new house in North Brittany which we are renovating, including hacking through a derelict garden. Our neighbour warned us he had seen a "viper" in the long grass recently. Does anyone know what variety this is likely to have been? In particular is it likely to be poisonous. My mother who is coming to stay shortly is terrified of snakes after nearly picking one up when she was youngWe spent most of the week-end mowing down the grass in an attempt to move it on. Does anyone have any other suggestions. I don't want to kill it, just move it on......
Mikew
'Viper' could be adder, not nice to meet. May have even been a grass snake, scary but not too harmful! You can buy an anti-snake spray from Mr Bricolage or similar. It is specially developed to deter, not harm, snakes, they do not like it's smell, altough it does not smell strong to me.Seems to work at our house in Charente, has anyone else tried it?Mike
