You can't eat the fruit, but the Victorians used to cut it and put bits in the wardrobe to make it smell nice and keep the moths away. Bloody good in gin too. The flowers are like a lemon flower with very thick petals and the most wonderful smell. When the fruit is ripe you just need to scratch the skin and the most incredible lemon smell issues forth. Mind you, like all lemon trees they have the most horendous thorns!!It's a really unusual and lovely bush, soon to become tree in the next 20 years (?). The only one last year finished up in our gin and I didn't see any seeds. they are quite soft as far as temprature is concerned and have to be wrapped up in winter, even down here.
