Accomodation Only Sales Up 39%

Interesting piece in the Sunday Times with the head of Mark Warner predicting the death of traditional tour operators. Lots of discounting of summer packages is going on with sales in Spain down 40%. Overall sales of package holidays are down 9% on last year, which itself was down on the year before.

At the same time, flight sales are up and importantly for those of us letting property, accommodation only sales are up 39%. Mark Warner are reorganising their own offering to allow people to book shorter periods and accommodation only in recognition of these trends.
