pump running times!

I have installed an above ground pool and the filter/pump is 10 metres from the pool. The installation manual gives a formula for the run time of the pump based on 3.5 metres from the pool. Does the distance from the pool actually make any difference? Any help greatly appreciated.

If you wish to take the Health Department recomendations as a guide,

then you must calculate to volume of water in the pool, then divide

that by the capacity of the pump/filter and then run same for the

amount of time it would take to get the entire contents of the pool

through the system twice every day it is used. (that is a minimum)

If your running a commercial pool, that is one for a gite or anywhere

you are charging for its use then you are obliged to install a system

whcih sill circulate the entire contents every 3 hours. This must

contine for the whole time when people are swimming.

I hope that this is of some help.

According to my manual I have calculated that my pump should be running for 6hrs per day and that I should not swim in the pool while the pump is running. Therefore pump is switched OFF for swimming and I must clean my pool from the exterior, not easy with an above ground pool. I have friends with similar sized above ground pools who run their pumps 24/7 swim and get in pool with pump running to clean.......is this advised?
