danhrw
I have just purchased a house in the south of france which has come with a pool. It is to be used as a holiday let and I have been told there are a number of regulations that are fairly recent regarding swimming pools. Not speaking french very well I wondered if anyone knows these inside out or if there is a site which has these in english. I am under the impression that these include: Hard cover or security fencing? - I am unsure as to the specifics of what is acceptable or where I can get the best value for money in either.ToiletShowerFootbathSkimmers & Pump Specification.I would be grateful for any links or advice on these. Thanks
Clair
Basically, by law, you pool must have either:a fence conforming to standard NF P90-306an alarm conforming to standard NF P90-307a cover conforming to standard NF P90-308a lid conforming to standard NF P 90-309No mention of toilet, shower, footbath, pump or skimmer specs...A Google search on 'French pool regulations' will bring in a lot of English results. The regulations in French are here: http://www.logement.gouv.fr/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=
Poolguy
DanHrwThe regulations you are refering to are the DDASS rules (HealthDepartment) for 'public pools' which apply to any pool which thepaying public are using... this could be no more than one family usingonce per year. So if you have a Gite business with a Pool then theDDASS will regularly inspect the pool and take water samples fortesting.Accordingly, if you want to ensure that you pass these inspections thenyou need to set up your pool to meet their standards, which, inaddition to the list you have already posted includes 3 hourscuiculation time (time for all the water to pass through the filter),automatic dosing of liquid dissinfectant and pH control (this excludessalt systems) and some other issues.Clair is refering to the AFNOR regulations for security measures whichapplies to ALL pools and not just those which are used for commercialpurposes. If you need clarification of these matters then email me with youraddress and contact details along with some pics of your pool and pumphouse and I will advise you what measures needs to be in place tocomply with the regulations.Andrew
les Favets
Hi Andrew, I am a bit confused with your comments. Are you saying that all of us 1000's of Gite owners with swimming pools are classified as having " Public pools " and will be having regular inspections?????We have a Gite, We have a Pool which our clients use, We do not let the general public use it, Todate 2 years after having the pool installed : NO !! one has come to inspect it at any time let alone : regular inspections. May I ask any other Gite owners if they have regular inspections of their pool ?Regards Les Favetswww.ruralfranceholidays.com
