Just to clarify the provisions of the Loi Chatel...

In the case of insurances, the insurer is required to include a reminder about your cancellation rights in the annual renewal notice.  The notice must be sent out at least 15 days before the end of the contract (the postmark is the definitive date).  If you do not cancel within this timescale, then you have tacitly renewed the contract.

However, if the notice is sent out less than 15 days before the end of the contract, or after the termination date, then it must additionally inform you that your statutory right to cancel is extended to 20 days, starting from the date of despatch (postmark date). 

If no renewal/reminder notice is received, then you can cancel at any time without penalty.

If you cancel by letter within the above timescales, then you have merely exercised your rights in law.  There is no requirement for you to actually quote the Loi Chatel....
