hello  .not that i need one yet!does anyone know where the nearest hospital is please .we live in mareiul 24340 equal distance between angouleme and perigueux .many thanks john

You are in the Dordogne and Angouleme is in the Charente (I think[8-)]), so as you are equal distance between the two I don't know if there would be any issues in going to a different department's (even Region's) hospital.  We have had various experiences with Perigueux hospital and have no complaints.

Each village or town, 'depends' on a certain hospital. ie if you take ill then the sapeur pompiers will take you to the one in your hospitals, is it catchment area. You could ofcourse request a different hospital, but there will be one that they will usually use. It is a funny old system. Our friends live on the doorstep of a hospital, and can go there, but would be taken to another 8 miles away if they called the secours.

Ask your doctor. We are supposed to register with GP's now anyway and you should get a referal if you want to see a specialist these days. You needn't but it costs more if you don't.

thanks susie no problem .i have loads of trees to sort out and things to build and unfortunately i have inherited my mothers art of falling over things that exist ,also things that don,t exist!my grandson has also inherited this trait ,and thinks its the norm .and sometimes his recovery from "a trip,is almost of olympic standard!many thanks john
