On Speed -speed up your internet connection

Recommended Posts

Can you give me a bit of advice that I can't see on the website.

I use Broadband in the UK and use my laptop with a wireless connection. No speed problems at all, and I don't think I would want On Speed for that, but in France I have the world's slowest dialup (free.fr) where I imagine it would help a lot.

Can I switch it on and off, or would I need to run my UK setup through it as well?

You can turn it on and off;  a little icon appears near the clock on the taskbar,  and from there you can activate it or de-act.

It doesn't work for everything (it actually slows down the arrival of acrobat files) but for most things it does make (I find) a very useful improvement.

However, like you I have free in fr,  and when that "goes to sleep" for 30 secs at a time while it deals with someone else then Onspeed cannot make any difference for that 30 secs or whatever.  But I suspect you would know that anyway as you're better with computers than I am!    Certainly overall I find a great improvement with free and with onetel in the UK.
