Which Visa?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

We are planning to purchase an existing B&B in France.

My question is... before we move to France do we need to apply  for a Carte de commercant etranger, or a long stay visa and then apply for a residency permit once we are established in our new home?

Any info on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at the link below which may be of some help:

I suspect that you will have to apply for a long-stay visa (ie one-year) initially to get into the country, and to do this you will need to provide evidence of how you will support yourselves - IIRC you need to have evidence of income amounting to around 700€/month for a couple (assuming that this is the current value of RMI). Oh yes, and you will need to show that you have health cover ...
