lizzy h
Wehave just seen a distressing sight, the hen hut next to our garden isowned by a french farmer who comes once a day to feed his hens, we weresitting in the garden and heard banging coming from the tin hut in hisgarden where he keeps them so we investigated to our horror we saw alarge rook or crow (beautiful bird) hanging upside down by its footwhich was severed off and tied with wire and it was flapping about indistress obviously terrified it had been tied there to be left to dieslowly in agony, how cruel is that !! I am shocked and dismayed bythis, are they classed as pest here or why was it hung it was obviouslyfit, it had been fighting so much its foot had come off, we cut thewire and it hopped to the gate and sat for a minute or so and then flewoff in a strong and magnificent way, I could not knowingly let thecreature hang there to die,What I want to know is, is this cruel act common? why let it suffer a slow death.I know in my heart I've done the right thing, but why do people do this thing in the first place!!!! Tancrède
a distressing sight…
And how would you feel about a pretty baby lamb with its eyes and tongue pecked out? And which would you prefer to figure most prominently on your table - chicken, lamb or crow?
Christine Animal
Well done Liz. We found one years ago caught in a piège à mâchoires. Like yours, he was flapping about, one foot had been cut off and the other was still in the trap with just a bit of flesh intact between the foot and the leg. We couldn't let him go as he couldn't have survived without any feet, so we took him home and kept him for quite a while. He became quite tame and ate tinned dog food, etc.
