Can anybody tell me what I need ie paperwork, jabs etc to get two cats that we brought over from England back to England from Brittany.  Do they have to stay in quarantine also?

If your cats dop not already have an up to date passport then this is what you will need to get. the procedure for travelling back to the UK is as follows:

First, your vet will need to microchip (now available as an alternative to tatooing in France)your cat. Then it will need to have a rabies vaccination. One month after the vaccination you will need to return to the vet for the cat to have a blood test. Assuming the test is ok then the EU Pets Passport will be issued and your cat will be free to re-enter the UK 6-months after the date of the blood test. Finally, your cat will need to be treated by a French vet for fleas, ticks and worms between 24 and 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of your ferry. Having got all that sorted you can then take your cat straight back into the UK.

Hi,

This is really helpful as we want to take our cat back (temporarily) next March. She already has the passport and chip but we didn't bother with blood tests when we brought her over here as we never intended taking her back. We've now realised thats its easier to take her on holiday to england with us then it is to leave her in France.

When the 6 months after the blood test has lapsed, how long can the cat travel backwards and forwards for before needing another jab / blood test?

Your cat can travel as often as you want, without further blood tests, provided you keep the rabies vaccinations up to date.  However, if you don't have it vaccinated by the due date then you have to start all over again, with a blood test and another six month wait before being able to travel to the Uk without quarantine.
