Daft Doctor
Hi, we are interested in getting a smooth collie puppy in the spring. Does anyone know the direct French translation for this breed and, importantly, does anyone know of any breeders in the South East of France (nearer to Haute Savoie the better!). Many thanks in advance. [:)]
YCCMB
It's a collie (or colley, depending on where you look) lisse (or a poil court...again depending on where you look)Google "eleveurs colley a poil court" or any permutation of the above and Robert est ton oncle.http://www.colleyclub.com/Eleveurs.htm
Daft Doctor
Hi, and thanks, I should have been more specific and said it's a smooth border collie we're after.
YCCMB
IN that case, try adding the word "border" to what I said above. A surprising number of pedigree dogs have very similar names in French. This is one of them.
Patf
They call them border collies too, but with the accent on the 2nd syllable of each word ie bordair colees. Plus the word for smooth that Betty gave. I expect they spell it the same as the english spelling. We have one, but longhaired. We bought her from a farmer in the next dept. - advertised in the Depeche.
